I'm Athena, I'm a licensed speech-language pathologist who has about 10 years of experience babysitting/nannying for children of all ages in addition to 5 years of speech/language experience working with children with special needs. Coming from a large Greek family, I have been the designated family babysitter for all of my cousins from their infant age up until their middle and high school years. Beyond that, during the past few summers, I have worked full time for families caring for their infant children as well as their older siblings (i.e., 8 years old). Before and in between those summers, I have cared for 11 year old twins, 5 and 8 year old siblings, 9, 5 and 3 year old siblings as a consistent babysitter. During my early years of childcare, I have worked at a daycare where I was primarily in the infant room as well as the preschool. Beyond caring for the children, I have also had responsibilities of maintaining the household including laundry, dishes, lunch prep for school, meal prep for dinner, homework help and driving to and from school and after school activities. I have a passion for caring for children and am looking to transition from full time speech pathology work to nannying. I believe in providing an emotionally safe and warm environment where children are nurtured and supported so that they can be in their most optimal state for growth, development, learning and self advocacy.
