Dear host family. My name is Shivania. I am 23 years old and I am from Durban but I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I have a passion for working with children and I have been doing so in both professional and family environments.
I think it is very important for children, of various ages, to be looked after with the upmost attention, care and respect. In my opinion, every child should be treated as an individual (rather than a number) in a manner that is specially meant for them and that caters to their unique needs. That is what I can offer your family and your children. My goal is to try my best to assist you with daily tasks in a manner that fits into your particular way of living.
As for myself, I really enjoy sports as I have done them my entire life. I love learning about new cuisines as cooking, nutrition and living a healthy and balanced lifestyle is very important to me. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art so creativity and artistic expression is something that I enjoy very much. In my spare time I read lots of books and spend quality time with my family and friends. Being outside and in nature brings me so much joy.
My family unit consists of my mother, younger sister and myself. Growing up, I always assumed a caretaker position for my sister as my mom worked a lot. I really enjoyed helping her with schoolwork, cooking for her, playing with her and making sure that she always had me to turn to. My mother instilled values in me that I carry through my entire life. Such values include respect, love, discipline and kindness.
There are many things that I love about myself but I would say the three most important ones are; my loving and soft heart, my ability to work hard in a multitude of environments and the fact that I practice kindness in every aspect of my life.
When I am older, one of my deepest desires is to have children of my own. Kids are so special and deserve to have someone around them who treats them well and looks after them. Family is the most important thing in my life.
I would really like to Aupair in Europe, specifically Germany or the Netherlands, because I want to learn about their rich and diverse cultures as well as experience a way of life that is different to that in South Africa.
I really hope that we can build a healthy relationship, working and living together as a family. It would be an absolute privilege to experience an eventful and enjoyable year with you and your kids.
