Hi family, You can call me Van. I grew up with a brother and a sister younger than me. During those years, I was then a grader but I managed to take care of them specially both of our parents are working. I can still remember at that time, my brother was a newborn. After school my mom will usually give me my brother to look after him, make his milk, change his diapers while she is away making ways for living. We had a canteen that I managed during my high school days. I do grocery shopping, ran errands to markets, cooked some of the menus for the canteen every day. This was the time when I learned to do things on my own since my mom was then told to rest in bed because of a difficult pregnancy. From then on, my family relied on my help. When I started working as a bookkeeper to the time I became an Operations Head in a company who I managed for more than 10 years, I have learned business administration, office to people management, and inventory. I was too an ESL teacher. During my employment I taught Chinese students' English language from 3 years old to older ones. It was a very fulfilling work since I got the chance to showcase a passion, I never expected I would realize. Teaching students from the day they do not know anything to the day they started learning and later on can answer and speak in English language is like an experience I will never regret I passed by. Seeing the children happy and amazed with their accomplishments every day made me feel so fulfilled. The timing of each class is 25 minutes. If we won't finish lessons for the allotted time, I extend and always finish the lessons 30 minutes to an hour without pay. I did this because I want the students to learn and finish their lessons every class. Another job I enjoyed having was when I worked in Doha-Qatar for 5 years. I was immersed to a job involving a diverse group of people with different nationalities, cultures and attitudes. Being a Procurement Specialist and an Admin Assistant including my previous work overseas, I am skilled at communicating effectively with people across various platforms. In my previous positions, I researched, did administrative duties in between departments including inventory management, evaluated suppliers’ products and services, negotiated quotations and ensured that approved purchases are cost-efficient, and of high quality. I worked too with the Finance, Project and Logistics Department for other duties assigned by the respective managers including dispatch of drivers and operators, hiring and leasing of equipment, tracking accidents and licensing. My previous work was with a company I had hybrid set-up. Being a Procurement Specialist, I was responsible for obtaining vendor estimated ship dates from vendor websites while utilizing multiple mediums to communicate with vendors to obtain estimated ship dates as necessary. Partnered with other departments for other duties assigned. Apart from my experiences are the traits I learned from my parents. I am sweet, loyal and loveable person. A person who is selfless and is a family oriented one.
