Hi Family,
My name is Asanda. I am a young lady who is 22 years old. I am originally from KwaMaphumulo, a small rural town just outside Durban. However, I have lived in different parts of Durban, attending school and acquiring fast knowledge on life experiences. I have one younger sibling (a sister) with whom I share my parents. My parents are married and they stay in our family home back in KwaMaphumulo.
I was brought up by my maternal Grandmother whom I love dearly. Within that household, I grew up with my six cousins, I, being the oldest. You can imagine, that life being filled with diaper changes, peace offerings, lots of food consumption begging, crying, and pleading, but most importantly, Love. In that chaotic household, I learned to love. Not only that but also to share (that was though, I will be honest) and also to be understanding.Understanding to kids, to adults, and to life situations. Those qualities have guided me throughout my life path and without them, I don't even think me writing this would be possible. It is within that very household that I learnt to never let my circumstances limit my thinking and growth. In that very household, I learnt that I am more than capable of achieving my goals, no matter how big they may seem. You see, living in that household was tough financially, and honestly, I could have made my duties of caring for my cousins be an explanation for my limitations but I did not. I was and still am determined to reach my goals and show my grandmother the world.
I have since graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in the year 2023 with a BSc in Urban and Regional Planning and I am now pursuing my Honours degree in Housing Development. During my years of higher learning, I have made it my mission to be independent. I have gone ahead and acquired my TEFL (120 hours) certificate which allowed me to teach English online to both kids and adults residing in China. I did that for about 2 years. In the past year, I was a part-time nanny to two beautiful kids (4 years and 11 years old), also to be independent. Being a tutor and nanny has taught me a lot about patience as well as Ubuntu. These are jobs that require passion and love and all thanks to my cousins, they gave me a free trial without the earnings.
