Dear future host family,

My name is Michaela, but most people call me Mica. I’m from the Philippines, and I recently turned 24 this year. I also just completed my college degree, which makes me even more excited to explore new opportunities, experience different cultures, and grow as a person. I would also love to learn different languages, expand my worldview, and immerse myself in new cultures and traditions.
Becoming an au pair is very meaningful to me because it allows me to open new doors for my future while doing something I truly enjoy, caring for children. I have years of hands-on childcare experience, especially within my family, where I learned to become patient, responsible, caring, and attentive to children’s needs.

For some time, I became the primary caretaker of my nephews and niece due to personal family circumstances. I took care of my niece from the age of 1 to 2, and it was such a memorable and heartwarming experience. After my mother passed away, I also took responsibility for my two nephews, who were 5 and 7 years old at the time. I cared for them for 3 years, making sure they were well taken care of by preparing their meals, helping with school, and supporting them in their daily needs. Even before that, I had already been actively helping care for them. These experiences taught me the importance of patience, compassion, and creating a safe and happy environment for children because I truly believe every child deserves the best care and attention.

Outside of childcare, I enjoy arts and crafts and love working with my hands. Some of my hobbies include drawing, baking, and crocheting. I enjoy learning creative things and expressing myself through them.
