Introduction
I am very excited to get to know you and to start my au pair journey. But first, I would like to introduce myself so you can get to know me better.
My name is Julliane Christina, and my nickname is Juls or Jaycee. I am 20 years old and was born and raised in the Philippines. My parents are Joan and Christopher, and I have an older brother, Joepher. Growing up, my family taught me many good values and life lessons. My mom has two younger siblings with children younger than me, which is one of the reasons why I love taking care of kids. Even when I was still in grade school, I was already helping take care of my younger cousins and loved spending time with them.
I am closer to my mom’s side of the family because most of my cousins on my dad’s side are older than me. My dad has worked abroad for most of my life, so I spent more time with my mom, whom I was very close to. Since I was a child, it has always been my dream to travel and learn about different countries and cultures. I even dreamed of becoming a flight attendant because I loved the idea of traveling and exploring the world.
I would describe myself as 50/50 introvert and extrovert. I am very outgoing once I get to know a person, but I can be shy when meeting someone for the first time. I am a very jolly person, although I am not always very vocal about my feelings. My hobbies are watching movies, reading books, and doing extreme activities. I also love hiking, nature trips, and water activities, especially when I am surrounded by people who make me feel happy and at peace.
My life has not always been easy. My parents’ marriage fell apart, and my mom later passed away suddenly.
Before that, I took care of her for months while she was hospitalized and recovering from three major surgeries. My brother focused on work and handling hospital matters while I stayed by her side and helped take care of her. These experiences made me more mature and taught me how to handle difficult situations with strength and patience.
I love doing house chores like cooking and cleaning because I enjoy keeping things organized and tidy. I also love taking care of children and giving them my full attention. I have taken care of babies as young as one month old because my relatives trusted me to babysit their children. I have cared for my cousins from infancy until their teenage years by helping them with homework, listening to their problems, and giving them comfort and support.
I also love taking care of animals, especially dogs and cats. I personally have four Pomeranians, and I treat them like my own daughters. Sadly, one of them passed away, which broke my heart. I also enjoy spending time with cats whenever I visit my grandmother or friends who have them.
I have also always enjoyed finding ways to earn and be independent. When I was younger, I sold slime, and when I got into high school, I started my own K-pop merchandise business and also sold fiction books.
I want to become an au pair because I want to experience being with different kinds of families and children. My aunt also worked as an au pair when she was younger, and hearing about her experiences inspired me to pursue this journey as well. I also want to learn about different cultures and languages and try different kinds of food because I am a foodie. However, I do not eat red meat because my mom did not eat pork and my dad does not eat beef. I really love chicken, vegetables, and seafood, especially shrimp and crabs.
Thank you for reading my letter and for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to learning more about you and your family, and I hope we can build a strong and meaningful relationship during my year with you as your au pair.
