Introduction
Hey there, I'm Amara! You know, the name that everyone struggles to pronounce but hey, I find it hilarious and intriguing. It's got this Greek-African flair, meaning "grace, immortal, tribe." Fancy, right?
If I had to describe myself in a nutshell, I'd say I'm the outgoing, friendly, and open-minded girl next door. Maybe a tad stubborn, but let's call it a charming quirk! Determined, ambitious – I mean, stubbornness might play a role there – but also down-to-earth. I'm hardly ever upset; I prefer fixing things and seeing the glass half full. I bet I could be the daughter you never knew you needed, always ready to lend a hand and hoping you'd do the same for me. And, oh boy, am I a chatterbox! Get ready for loads of thoughts and feelings – just like with my nearest and dearest.
I went to Trinity Secondary School in Anambra State, Nigeria. School was my jam; I genuinely enjoy learning because it helps me understand the world better. I'm super curious, and there's no subject I dislike, but science and languages? Total favorites! Math, physics, chemistry, biology – you name it. Also did six years of French, dabbled in German, and can throw around a few words in Korean. Yep, I'm that girl who made science cool for others! I've even led the school band, played those big bass and tenor drums – first female elected band member and leader, no big deal. While I dabble in choir, dance, and art, my heart is set on studying computer science in the future.
Traveling is my jam! Dreaming of exploring America, Europe, Australia, Asian countries – you name it. So, being an au pair? Perfect way to make those dreams come true! Imagine experiencing different cultures and becoming a part of your family – I'm practically jumping with excitement!
Beyond sciences and languages, I'm a sucker for drawing and designing, especially buildings. Trying my hand at digital drawing too – imagine me with a pad and digital gear, so cool! I used to play piano, had to take a break, but mark my words, I'll be back at it in the future.
Active? Yep, that's me! But, girl, I also need my downtime. When I'm not being all energetic, you'll find me buried in books, especially Harry Potter. Escaping to a different world is my go-to when I need a break from reality.
And let's talk food! Cooking is my thing – rice, yam, cakes, you name it. Learned baking from my last au pair gig; the man owned the cleanest bakery in the east of Nigeria. I'd love to whip up some African and continental dishes for you!
Now, let's talk family – my ride or die. Mom Ann, Dad Simeon, five older siblings, and a younger sister. It's a full house, and I love it! I share a room with my brother, and trust me, I know how to keep things tidy. My parents are retailers, dealing in pastries, especially bread. Dad's got an HND in business admin, and Mom rocks it with her secondary school certificate.
Taking care of the elderly? Yep, I've got that covered too. Lived with my granny for two years – patience and attentive listening are my superpowers!
Friends? Oh, the besties are scattered around the globe. Living away from family since I was eight introduced me to diverse cultures and friends. Two of my closest pals? All the way from China! Met them when they were in Nigeria taking care of their cousin. International friends? A bunch who think this au pair adventure will be epic.
I've always wanted to spread my wings, learn languages, soak up cultures, and dive into the spirit of different places. Ready to kickstart this LIFE journey with you, knowing it's going to be a game-changer. Can't wait to meet you and become your honorary daughter. Let the adventure begin!
See you soon, ?
