Introduction

?? Dear Host Family, ??

My name is Julia, I am 24 years old and I come from Indonesia. I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and I am very excited to begin a new chapter of my life as an Au Pair.

As a Psychology graduate, I have always been interested in understanding people, especially children’s development and well-being. Through my studies and experiences, I realized how important a loving, supportive, and positive environment is for children to grow and thrive. After completing my degree, I wanted to challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone, experiencing a new culture firsthand, and learning from people with different backgrounds and perspectives. Becoming an Au Pair is the perfect opportunity for me to combine my passion for working with children with my desire for cultural exchange and personal growth.

? My Experience with Children

Since childhood, I have helped my mother care for my three younger brothers. I assisted with preparing meals, bathing them, changing diapers when they were younger, helping them get ready for school, playing educational games, helping with homework, comforting them when they were upset, and supporting their daily routines. Growing up with younger siblings taught me patience, responsibility, and how to care for children with love and understanding.

I also gained hands-on experience at a daycare center, where I assisted caregivers in supervising children, organizing play and learning activities, supporting meal times, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and encouraging children to develop their social and communication skills.

In addition, I completed a three-month internship at a children’s orphanage, where I cared for approximately 20 children aged 5–14 years old. My responsibilities included supervising daily routines, assisting with homework, organizing creative and recreational activities, providing emotional support, and creating a positive and caring atmosphere for the children.

Through volunteer work in community social programs, I worked with children and teenagers from different backgrounds. I introduced creative and educational activities aimed at building self-confidence, encouraging motivation to learn, promoting emotional well-being, and helping prevent bullying behavior.

I also participated in parenting and early childhood programs, working directly with toddlers and their parents to encourage positive interaction, support child development, and promote early education.

As part of my academic projects, I visited schools to observe and interview children regarding their motor and sensory development. This experience deepened my understanding of children’s individual needs and developmental stages.

? About Me

I would describe myself as a caring, patient, responsible, adaptable, and open-minded person. I genuinely enjoy spending time with children, listening to their stories, supporting their learning, and celebrating their small achievements.

I speak Indonesian as my native language and I am comfortable communicating in English. I am always eager to improve my language skills and learn from different cultures.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, journaling, cooking, listening to music, and exploring new cultures. I would be delighted to introduce Indonesian culture to your family by sharing stories and preparing traditional Indonesian meals together.

? Why I Want to Become an Au Pair

For me, being an Au Pair is much more than taking care of children. It is a meaningful cultural exchange and an opportunity to become part of a family’s daily life.

I hope this experience will help me grow into a more independent, confident, and open-minded person. I look forward to learning about your culture, traditions, and language while sharing my own culture with you. Most importantly, I hope to build a genuine relationship with your family based on trust, kindness, and mutual respect.

I would love to support your children as they learn and grow, become a positive role model in their lives, and create joyful memories together that we will cherish for years to come.

? What I Can Offer Your Family

• Loving, attentive, and responsible childcare experience with toddlers, school-aged children, and teenagers.

• Experience caring for multiple children at the same time through my work at a daycare center, volunteer activities, and my internship at a children’s orphanage.
