Introduction

Dear Host Family,
Are you in search of an Au Pair who adores working with children, possesses prior childcare experience, and is committed to spending a year with your family? Well, your search has led you to the right person - me, Mary. I'm 17 years old (turning 18 soon) and live with my family in a small town in Germany. My family includes my two parents and my 16-year-old brother, Jeremy. My interests are reading and crocheting, while I cherish time with friends or family, engaging in activities like movies, board games, cooking, swimming or park visits. Additionally, I love traveling and have already been to Austria, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Mallorca, Rhodes, and the US.
Presently, I'm a student approaching graduation with A levels in sight. My aspiration is to become a teacher, making being an Au Pair an invaluable opportunity to gain pre-study experiences. I've been drawn to working with children from an early age, starting with tutoring in English and now in Maths. Currently, I tutor five children from the age of 12-15 at the moment and have just started working at a bakery. What I love especially about tutoring in English is when my students tell me they enjoyed their time and studying with me and actually had fun even though they sometimes just can't stand the language. Moreover, I really like the variety of my job as a baker auxiliary, and working while the scent of freshly baked goods is an additional bonus. Lastly, I have been babysitting a 4-year-old boy for the past two years and adore spending time with him. He loves going to the playground, showing me new things he learned, playing games with me, or just watching TV with me. He has shown me that not only do toddlers learn from you, but you as well learn from them. I learned how important it is to stay calm and patient with a child but also how precious every moment you spend with them is and what a beautiful feeling it is to make them smile, sometimes only with small actions.
Internships in primary schools further solidified my passion for guiding and teaching children. When I was in 9th grade, I did my first internship in an elementary school and really liked it. I was even allowed to teach for some lessons and got a picture from the class I was teaching. I did my second internship in an elementary school when I was in 10th grade and also really enjoyed it. My multicultural background, with a Nigerian father and Turkish mother, has instilled openness and curiosity about diverse cultures. Growing up bilingual (English and German), I'm keen to share my language skills and cultural insights. I would love to share traditions like the German "Adventskalender" (Christmas calendar) or cook for you typical food I grew up with.Additionally, I am eager to immerse myself in the local culture and explore the surrounding area and city. Whether it's
discovering hidden gems, attending cultural events, or simply strolling through the neighborhoods, l am excited to absorb
the richness and diversity that your region has to offer. Exploring new places has always been a passion of mine, and I am thrilled about the opportunity to learn more about the U.S., its traditions, and its vibrant communities. I can't wait to embrace the adventure and create wonderful memories in the process.
While I understand the professional aspect of our relationship, I genuinely hope to build a familial bond and spend much time with your family. In joining your family, I place great value on open and transparent communication. I hope for a warm and inclusive atmosphere where we can openly discuss any concerns or joys. I believe in the importance of setting expectations and boundaries from the beginning, ensuring that we can create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and respected. I am excited about the prospect of not only being an Au Pair for your family but also a supportive and communicative member of the household.
What sets me apart is not just my academic and tutoring experiences but also my calm, determined, and empathetic nature. I believe in being a positive role model, evident when a friend's sister told me she wants to be like me when she's older. . I naturally take immense joy in engaging children in enriching and enjoyable activities. From planning exciting trips that ignite their curiosity to delving into arts and crafts projects that encourage creativity, I find great fulfillment in creating memorable experiences. Sharing stories, whether through reading or imaginative tales, is a cherished pastime, fostering both learning
and bonding. As a tutor, I am dedicated to helping them grasp new concepts, providing a supportive environment for their
academic growth.
I am excited about the prospect of becoming a part of your family, bringing cultural exchange, warmth, and a big-sisterly presence to your children's lives
