Dear Host Family,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Anxhela and I am a 21 years old Albanian student who
just graduated university (college) in economics in University of Tirana, Faculty of Economics and I
am writing this letter to you to express my desire to become an Au Pair for your family. To introduce
myself more, I will continue to tell about me and the experiences I’ve had with children.
Here in Albania I live together with my parents and my older sister. I come from a little village,
named Kovashica, Diber. It is in the northwest Albania, near of the Lake of Drini.
I come from a family of 5: My Dad use to work as a martial in Albanian army and now he’s a writer
and write books about his lifetime experiences and my mum is a housewife and she’s the kindest
hearted woman I have ever known. I also have one older brother and sister. My brother who’s the
eldest is a tiling businessman in England and my sister who's the middle child is an accountant and
artist living for the moment in Albania. My family is very important for me. I love them all very
much; we spend a lot of time together, joining common events and trips. And I also love the fact that
they are very supportive about me showing interest to be an Au Pair and add a joyful experience to
my life.
In about a year or two I plan to pursue a master’s degree, but I am yet to make up my mind
concerning my future area of specialization. So, at the moment, I would like to take some time out of
academics to have a different life experience, and to have time to calmly reflect on my future
academic/professional orientation. To this end, I think spending a year abroad would be particularly
interesting.
When it comes to child care experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal
contexts. I took it professionally when I went as an Au Pair for the first time in Switzerland. Before
and after that I have taken care for many of my youngest cousins, relatives and friend’s relatives
from to 2.5 months to 12 years old and they were all very happy with my services because the kids
seemed to always enjoy my company too.
When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, being
with my friends, going for walks and visiting places I have not been to. To describe myself, I am
very friendly and outgoing. I love meeting new people and making friends and enjoy being active
and engage in various activities. I'm also a responsible and reliable person and I think my personality
would fit very well with any family that will give me the opportunity to work with them.
So I am sure, my host family and I will have an unforgettable year of working and living together,
while we can learn much about the different cultures from each other. I would be happy to have the
opportunity to speak with you: to answer whatever questions you may have about me or my
childcare experiences; to learn more about your family; your interests and to know more about what
you expect from the au pair arrangement.
