My name is Gabriela.
I am an American citizen with Hispanic origin.
My family is mixed with French, Philipino, Polish, Arab, Italian, and Jamaican. Those are the cultures that have married into our family.
I am a college student in Ohio (USA) and wish to explore other countries for the summer, or travel within the US. (If we find that we are a great match, we can discuss that I stay longer, if desired.)
I am very experienced with newborns and infants, and you and I can tailor my skills and contributions to fit your needs. A little about me and my enthusiasm for childcare:
I learned many skills from my family from a humble country with generations of stay-at-home moms. I have been lucky to be an older cousin who has been exposed to child-rearing since a young age while living at the epicenter of the family, where, often, it was common my grandmother's children (my aunts and uncles) would stay with their new partners and newborn babies for a while to learn and share domestic responsibilities with elder women while the men worked.
As a result, I acquired an ease with infant-related skills you will learn from me: from soothing; to brain-development with songs and a lot of "speaking" to baby; to homemade, FRESH, baby food; to staying home in order to keep baby safe from germs (especially for at least the first 40 days); to mom attention and care. You matter, and it takes a lot of sleep and recovery to bounce back from having a baby, and I'm grateful for the care I received as a young mom 22 years ago. Now I can share that with you.
I would like to use my experience with children as a way to meet a nice family and participate with daily activities and hopefully have a chance to experience another culture, language, and country. Although, staying in the US is okay, too! I am 41 years old. I also have experience with elder care.
A little more about me:
I have studied opera for a while and understand a little Italian. I speak Spanish and English and enjoy learning about other cultures. I grew up in the suburbs of northeast Ohio and was privileged to travel to Canada, parts of the US, and Mexico. I also have been to Jamaica where I was enamored with the beautiful nature of Fern Gully. I have attended Cleveland State University, Baldwin Wallace University, and had the pleasure of being an intern for Dr. Joe Fagan at Case Western Reserve University. Suffice it to say, I love academia and I really enjoy other cultures, which is why I am now studying to earn my bachelor's degree in anthropology. My minor is communications.
