My sister and I are looking for additional care for our parents. The primary care is needed for our dad, who is 76, and needs help after having a stroke in 2015 and major heart surgery shortly thereafter. He also has mobility issues due to back pain and neuropathy in his legs. Our mom, who is the same age, is in good health, but she needs help around the house and help caring for our dad. They live in a suburb of Chicago, in a ranch-style home, with a separate living quarters in a finished basement.
The caregiver could have their own space downstairs, with a kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom, TV, and living area. We are also seeking assistance with light housework, errands, and potentially transportation to and from doctors' appointments or physical therapy appointments as needed. They would need to be upstairs and interacting with our parents when care is needed. Our dad loves good food - we would be excited to host someone who might help him get motivated to cook again with recipes from their native country!
Our parents have been married for 53 years. They live in a northwest suburb of Chicago. They have two daughters and four grandchildren. In addition to enjoying good food, they love spending time with friends and family, and watching sports, especially baseball (Dad is a Chicago White Sox fan, and Mom is a Chicago Cubs fan).
