A B O U T M E

I am a single female and have lived in Howick for most of my life. I enjoy spending my free time at
home with my pets and visiting with my daughter, family and friends on occasion.

I stopped working a few years ago and started caring for my father who suffered a perforated
ulcer and severe arthritis and had to spend a lot of his time in bed. Over the past few years his
health unfortunately declined, he had to undergo an operation and have one of his legs
amputated and therefore required more intense care. I attended to his daily needs with regards
to his basic hygiene, ensuring his medication was administered as per his requirements and
cooking and preparing meals for him daily. I attended to his wounds in conjunction with a local
nurse. I also attended to any bed sores and assisted with trying to minimize their occurrence. I
also conducted daily physio as it was prescribed and assisted with movements between bed and
commode etc. Sadly my father passed away in early July this year from a sudden stroke and I am
needing to find work.

Feb 2017 Stegan Household - Mrs Steg
-Attending to the daily needs of Mr. Erich Stegen who was 101 years of age.
-Following his comprehensive personal routine daily. Which included bathing and changing of
his clothes as well as diapers.
-Preparing daily meals and maintaining the cleanliness of the household.
-Cleaning and sanitizing of medical equipment.
-Preparing daily meals and assisting her with eating.
-Ensure that they received the correct care and medication every day according to their
individual needs and prescribed requirements. Mr Stegan required an extensive amount of
medication which needed to be administered and monitored closely. He also required the use
of a nebuliser every AM and PM.
-Assisting with any wound care and changing of bandages and guazes.

Feb 2016 Perry Household

-Looking after Mrs. Una Perry who was 96 years of age and suffering from organ failure.
-Working in conjunction of the family doctor to ensure medication and care was given as
prescribed and that Mrs Perry was kept comfortable at all times.
-Preparing daily meals and assisting her with eating.
-Carrying out bed baths, changing of bandages and gauze. Ensuring that bed sores were treated
and assisting in trying to minimize the occurrence.

Mar 2014 - Oct 2014 Etheridge Household - Noleen Dampst
-Attending to the daily needs of an elderly couple in their late 70s.
-This work required more of a house-keeping role to make sure the elderly couple were
comfortable in their home. This included keeping the household clean and organized and
preparing meals.
-Assisted with bathing and dressing.
-Assisted with hospital visitations and check-ups.
-Ensure that they received the correct care and medication every day according to their
individual needs and prescribed requirements.

Sep 2013 - Dec 2013 Amanda Dykstra

-Looking after general well-being of a 96 year old gentleman by giving assistance with bathing,
feeding and general activities.
-Preparing daily meals and assisting with eating.
-Ensure that he received the correct care and medication every day according to their
individual needs and prescribed requirements.

Nov 2001- Oct 2012 Department of Health Umngeni Specialized Psychiatric Hospit
-Looking after general well-being of patients with a wide range of physical and mental
conditions, by giving assistance with bathing, feeding and general activities.
-Sorting of patients clothing and soiled linen. Moving of clean clothes and laundry from main
laundry facility; folding clothes and changing linen.
Kitchen duties included the distribution of meals from the main kitchen and making sure
patients are fed according to their needs and on time. -Cleaning up and washing dishes after
meal times.
-Monitoring the disposing of waste.
-Mopping of all hospital areas and use of special cleaning equipment such as a floor scrubber
etc. as well as deep cleaning of walls, windows, and bathrooms.
