Dear Au Pair,
we are a mixed-cultural family with two kids living in beautiful Copenhagen with walking distance to all sites and the center of the city. The cultures being German from the mother's side, U.S. from the father's side and Danish as the environment we live in for 6 years now. We moved from New York where both kids were born. We live in a 180 sqm townhouse in Østerbro, Copenhagen; it's very safe and family oriented but has tons of cafes, stores and such. We enjoy having other families and neighbors over for dinner and we are used to having had an au pair living with us when we lived in the USA and the last almost six years in DK. Now, everybody is typically at work or school during the day but both parents work full time and with overnight business travel and we need help with the kids and managing the household. We'd look forward to include an au pair in our daily lives again, share dinner and weekend brunches or trips to Tivoli or the beach (in the summer).
In Denmark, the employment of au pairs is very regulated and we are not seeking to deviate from that (18-30 hours per week, vacation days, 1,5 days off per week, own room, room and board, etc.). We want the au pair to feel like being at home and share the cultural experience for 6+ months. It would be important for us that you are passionate about kids and our kids have a lot of energy and would enjoy playing catch at a local playground!

Mornings: getting the kids out of bed and ready for school (help them to wash and dress themselves, breakfast, walk the little one to school which is across the street). Then, weekly housecleaning, incl. laundry, daily emptying of dishwasher, tidy up after everybody has left the house. Hours: 6:45-8:30.
Afternoons: pick up son from schools at 16:30 and babysit until parents get home latest at 18:00; help make dinner and optionally join family for dinner at 18:00/18:30.
Weekends and evenings: 2-3 times per week, babysit incl. playtime, homework and putting kids to bed after dinner (this could include Saturdays or Sundays and to be discussed every month/week; weekend night babysitting is on average 1-2 times per month). 1,5 days per week are guaranteed off and vacations are earned per the Danish au pair regulations and paid by the family.
