Family's Introduction to Au Pair
Today, we are a family of four consisting of two adults (age 38yrs and 34yrs) and two children (boy, 2yrs and girl, 4yrs) and want to invite a fifth member into our family - we hope this might be you :)
We are looking for a responsible, proactive, engaged, warm and caring au pair that can help with household practicalities (primarily on weekdays) as well as having fun with our children, both of which are very curious and loves to explore the world.
Ideally you have previous au pair experience from a similar country such as Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands or equivalent - and have the opportunity to stay with us for 24mths. A certain level of English is required - some understanding of Scandinavian would be great (but not at all required).
Travelling and exploring new cultures is something we truly cherish, and we are thus very excited about the opportunity to invite an exchange of culture into the core of our family. We look very much forward to embarking on a journey of learning, sharing perspectives and all in all getting to know you!
All the best,
Laerke & family
Job Description
We are a loving and supporting family that cherishes respect, open and honest conversations and strive to make our home a place where all members as well as guests feel valued and cared for.
We do not have pets - and do not plan on having any while the kids are young.
LIVING SITUATION
We live in a newly renovated house, where you of course get your own room next to a toilet with access to a separate living room, if/when “individual time” is preferred. But as we welcome you into our family, we also hope to spend time together.
We live in a small suburb approx 10km north of Copenhagen, in a quiet and lovely neighbourhood. Everything you could wish for are within distance, from shopping streets, cafe’s and restaurants to beautiful nature; forrest, water and a lovely little harbour. During summer, we typically go for an ice cream or an evening dip at the beach only 5min away - and these are some of the most “Danish” magical moments, we can’t wait to share with you :)
If you would like a bit more of a city vibe, you can easily get to the city centre of Copenhagen as there are multiple options in terms of public transportation.
Relevant for you to know is also that our area have a lively au pair community and we are of course more that happy to assist on connecting you, to make sure you also have the opportunity to make friends :)
DAILY ROUTINE
We distinguish between weekdays and weekends as the nature of these are very different. Overall, on weekdays we live on a fairly tight schedule, whereas on weekends we strive to do what feels right for the day :)
Weekdays
06/06.30 - wake up
06.30/07.30 - breakfast + start getting ready for the day
07.30/08 - leave for work, nursery and kindergarten
15/15.30 - kids picked up, go to the play ground/play in the garden/have a cozy time at home
17.30 - dinner
18/18.30 play/read books + get ready for bed
19 kids sleep
Weekends
We enjoy embracing the present and doing what feels right for the day - go for an early morning walk, crabbing a coffee and croissant/breakfast outside or simply doing a slow morning at home, sleeping for as long as we can and make breakfast together with the kids (which they love!) that being baking a bread, making scramble eggs or pancakes.
The kids have activities on weekends (swimming, football and ballet) - typically we have plans w friends/family in the afternoon/evening
SCHEDULE
On weekdays we hope for you to
- prepare breakfast + tidy up afterwards
- assisting w general household chores such as overall tidying up, cleaning and laundry
- engage in afternoon family time, and being part of creating a caring and nurturing environment
- some days prepare dinner
- tidy up in the evening
Ad hoc tasks may occur from time to time (errands or various to do’s) - and we obviously value your opinion and input here :)
On weekends, we suggest finding a balance that suits us mutually - but overall hope to create lasting memories, show you our beautiful country and equally to learn from you and your culture
OTHER
- We hope that you are warm and caring by nature as well as proactive, engaged and eager to learn new things
- We appreciate open and honest conversation and value flexibility
