Welcome to our family! This is going to be a very exciting year for all of us. Not only will you have the opportunity to experience life in America, our family will have the opportunity to learn about a new culture and make a lifelong friend. Let us introduce ourselves. We live in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Michigan is located in the Midwest and is shaped like a hand and surrounded by 5 large freshwater lakes and experiences all 4 seasons – summer, fall, winter and spring. We live in a suburb of Detroit, so you have the best of both worlds. We live next to a wooded area, so you will regularly see wildlife like deer and turkeys walking through the backyard. There are many walking paths nearby but we are also near many shopping centers. Then, in 20 minutes you are in the city and you can surround yourself with restaurants, movie theaters, museums and so much more
My name is Crystal and my husband is Dave. Our daughter, Violet, turned two in May, and we have another daughter on the way, due March 2025. Violet is very sweet and curious and loves to "play doctor" and sing made-up songs.
Dave and I work together on a software business that we started in 2014. Dave works full time, mostly doing software programming, sales, and customer support. I work part-time on administrative tasks. We usually work during normal business hours between 9 am – 4:30 pm and Violet attends Montesorri school from 8:30-3 pm during the week.
We believe in honesty and open communication. Never hesitate to come to us if you need to ask a question or you need our help in some way! We will do our very best to make you feel like part of the family!

Our ideal au pair is someone who will love and care for our girls as if they were their own. Since we will have a newborn, we are looking for someone who has experience with infants.
Our needs will change during the year as we welcome our new daughter in March 2025, so we are looking for someone who can be flexible with their schedule. I expect it to look something like this:
Dec - Mar: watch Violet on evenings and weekends. Occasionally, daytime will be needed when she is out of Montessori school.
Mar - May: assist Crystal with the baby overnight from approximately 10 pm - 6 am (4 nights/week), until baby is sleeping through the night, with some nights and weekends spent with Violet.
June - ongoing: watch Violet and the baby during the day, with some nights and weekends.
We believe it is very important to focus on the kids and other child-related tasks while working and would not want someone to be spending that time on their phone or watching TV.
We have a furnished basement that you can call home while staying with us. It is about 1,000 square feet with a TV, couch, bed, table, refrigerator, stovetop, and gym equipment that includes a treadmill, elliptical, free weights, and a pilates reformer machine.
There are several college campuses near us to choose from when taking your courses. You will be able to use our car most nights and weekends to make getting around a little bit easier for you.
