We’re the Martins family — Mario, Jessica, and our three kids: Zoee (11), Harlei (5), and Kai (2). We’re a warm, outdoorsy family that values kindness, clear communication, and lots of fresh air.

Where we live: We’re moving to Penryn, CA in January to a home on 2 acres. We currently have a cat (Kitty) and a dog (Bodhi), and once we’re settled we hope to add goats, chickens, and ducks—so being animal-friendly is a great fit here.

Mario works for the fire department and can be away 2–4 days at a time on shift.

Jessica runs her own businesses from home. Because our schedule shifts with Mario’s rotations, we prefer most help when Mario is not home that’s when extra hands make the biggest difference.

Mario speaks Portuguese and Spanish; his family is from Portugal/Azores (we visit often). We also spend time with Jessica’s parents in the Bay Area. We love to travel and are big foodies!

The kids + activities:

Zoee: horse lover and thoughtful big sister!

Harlei: fashion, crafts, and everything girly!

Kai: outdoors, bikes, and cars—currently tags along for the fun and wants to try everything.

We’re not 100% sure of the new activity schedule yet since we haven’t moved, but all three kids are active where we live now and will definitely have activities once we get settled in Penryn.

Local life (Penryn & nearby):

Penryn & Loomis: small-town charm—orchards, farm stands, coffee spots, riding stables.

Roseville & Rocklin: shopping (Galleria/Fountains), restaurants, gyms, movies, fun parks.

Auburn & Folsom Lake: trails, river spots, paddleboards, and lake days.

Sacramento: museums, concerts, sports, and a great food scene—easy day trips.

Lake Tahoe: close enough for weekend hikes in summer and snow days in winter.

Getting around: We have an extra car available for au pair use (valid license and safe driving record required).
