We are a Brazilian Chinese American family. I work a as a financial recruiter for companies in the Bay Area but I have a background as a writer and an actress. My daughter is very imaginative and loves to pretend and loves learning. My son loves building things and is very sensitive and soft and works best with patience and empathy. Both of them enjoy arts and crafts and anything creative and fun. They also love baking and cooking. I am always looking up ideas on Pinterest to stimulate them or play with them. I read to them every night. They are well behaved kids but they are also free. I treat them with respect at the age they are and never see them as people to talk down to. We have a loving relationship that touches my heart daily. They are very close to me and so they are reserved to let new people in, who do not know the language of children and it’s innocence and fun. They get along great unless they are hungry or tired. They do have their daily sibling argument, heads up. I am a conscious eater and see food as medicine. We love to cook and get our produce from our local farm.

We have had a live in nanny for one a half years (she extended her assignment) and sadly she is moving on to go to the Peace Corps. As a result, I am a seeking a live in nanny for a one year assignment or longer. This would be our second experience with a live in nanny. You would have your own beautiful ohana (cottage) on a 3 acre property in a botanical garden in the rainforest. It would be 40 hours a week, mornings and afternoons. You would have evenings and the weekends to yourself as well as access to transportation. The job duties include childcare, housekeeping, preparing meals, cleaning up, organizing, trash, propane and water runs, post-office runs and personal assistant work. I am a single mom that works from home and we would interact with the other frequently. I have a 4 year old boy, 6 year old girl and a 1 year old baby. Daily duties include taking out and putting away dishes, folding laundry, preparing meals, changing diapers, taking and picking up kids from school, taking them out to the playground, museum, park, beach and library and assisting with the baby while I am working. We had a successful run with a nanny who stayed a year and a half and this is definitely an environment where we would be working closely together. That said, when you are not working, the ohana is a good distance from the main house so you would have your privacy and I will respect the hours you are not working.
We are a conscientious family, in regards to mindfulness about the food we eat and our part in the human collective. The ideal nanny would thrive in an environment that is more focused on nature and creating creative nature based or art based daily activities for the kids or at least browse Pinterest for ideas and I can help too. We lean away from technology and screen time outside Alexa and our family movie nights. I am seeking someone that likes board games, that likes to have themed days, is imaginative, has lots of energy, likes to play and knows how to get into the mind of children and is mindful to respect the little person and keep activities and knowledge shared age appropriate. I raise my kids to become good humans and I too practice always trying to grow and become better. They are very creative and imaginative and have tons of energy. They love to be around people who have that child spirit in them and loves to play. It is very peaceful here and I am a very mindful mom or at least practice to be one everyday.
Positive Communication is my strength and you should know I am a strong, independent woman who is proud to be a single mom working and supporting my own family. I am a strong advocate for womens' rights. It would be amazing to find a helper with the same views as we will be working a lot side by side. In the past, inevitably, friendships have evolved with of course the mindful boundaries of a professional relationship. Since we will be working side by side a lot, the best culture fit would be someone who is aware of world events, has traveled or wants to and is mindful about social causes and wants to do their part to be a good human too. I am seeking a person who is reliable, respectful, has strong work ethics and positive communication skills and can commit to a year. Additionally we are off the grid here which means our water comes from the catchement tanks and we live on propane and take our trash to the transfer station. This job will include propane and water runs and require some heavy lifting from time to time. Additionally there are bugs here and other small creatures and it rains a lot so there is mold and so living here is not for the faint hearted and requires someone who embraces the homestead or farm life and thrives in it. There are neighbors but we are on 3 acres of land so must be comfortable with that. Town is only 20 minutes away to Hilo or Pahoa.There is access to laundry. Our land is abundant with fruit trees - avocado, passion fruit, coconut, mulberries, tangerines, lemons, oranges, macadamia nuts, bananas, cherries etc. There is also a yoga room.
This job includes a monthly stipend and to live in Hawaii rent free with all utilities paid with transportation given you have a good driving record.
Ultimately I am seeking a dedicated, hard worker who takes pride in what they do, is conscientious, loves children, is not high maintenance and understands that the priority first and foremost is this job. I prefer a type A and type B personality blend or else more type B than type A.
