Thank you for choosing our family! We are a fun and active working family in Houston, Texas with two children—Emma, age 8 in the third grade and William, age 6 in first grade. We have hosted au pairs in our home for three years and we are now looking forward to a new au pair for the year ahead. We are seeking a Spanish-speaking au pair to help our children with Spanish and to assist with childcare while becoming a part of our family and exchanging cultures. Your primary responsibilities during the week will be helping the kids get ready in the morning and driving them to school and then picking them up in the afternoons, taking them to activities, helping with homework, preparing their dinner, and helping with their bedtime routines and reading. Occasionally we will ask you to help on a weekend but your weekends will generally be free.

We have a large home in the city with a yard and pool located about 15 minutes’ drive from the city center. Houston is a large and diverse city with many opportunities for fun, culture, and learning! There are several universities for taking classes that are easily accessible. There are also playgrounds, parks, festivals, museums, sports events, and nature walks all over the Houston area. Our neighborhood even has many restaurants, bars, coffee shops, stores, and services nearby. You will have access to a car each day and our previous au pairs found many other au pairs nearby for making friends!

Within our home, you will have your own large bedroom and bathroom which is only shared by William for brushing his teeth ?. Our home is clean and organized and we expect you to also be neat and contribute to light cleaning in the children’s areas and the kitchen which we all use, but we have a housekeeper for deep cleaning. Our au pair must be an experienced and safe driver who is confident driving our children short distances from our home to their schools and activities. We also have a pool so we expect the au pair must be a capable swimmer. When we are not working, we love to have fun as a family! We enjoy together travel, hiking, beaches, sports, food & drinks, water slides, music, friends, museums, and all that Houston has to offer.

Primary responsibilities include getting kids ready in the morning and driving them to school, picking them up from school in the afternoon and taking them to their activities, helping them with homework, preparing their dinner, and helping with bedtime routine and spanish reading. The typical hours monday - friday are 6:30-7:30am, 3pm-8:30pm during the school year. It is more relaxed in the summer but we always plan activities and camps for the kids to keep it fun for both kids and our au pair. Benefits for our au pair is that we provide a car, weekends off, and we invite our au pairs to travel with us. Prior au pairs have been to Austin, Fredericksburg, Montana Yellowstone National Park, St. Thomas Island, and Cabo Mexico.
