Dear future Host family,

Good day to you all!

Hi! My name is Maridel, an aspiring Au pair from the Philippines that would like to have a cultural exchange with your family. I'm a 21-year-old Filipina, single, never been married and have no kids. I am good in speaking English and Tagalog. A cheerful, responsible, and caring person. I studied Home Economics in Senior Highschool wherein I got my 2 NCII in Cookery and Food and Beverage Services. However, I took a different path on College, I studied Information Technology because I want to learn something new. And now, I am willing to go on another journey in life which is to become an Au pair.

It's always been my dream to travel and experience different cultures from all over the world. To meet and socialize with many people with different values and beliefs. As well as to share my own knowledge and experiences from my country. I believe that it will also help me to grow as a person, become more independent and improve the skills I have.

Most importantly is my genuine love for children. My childcare experiences started in my teenage years. Since I am the youngest in the family, I was longing for a baby sister or brother. Therefore, I helped in taking care of my cousins at the age of 11. And after my brother and my sister had their own family, I helped them in taking care of my nieces and nephews. Everything from putting the kids to sleep, giving bath, changing diapers, and feeding them. As well as bringing the kids to school when their parents are at work, picking them up, helping them with homework and especially playing with them. One of the things we liked doing was biking around our neighborhood. Doing arts and crafts after school. And swimming in our inflatable pool in the summer. These experiences made my heart very close to children and treated them well with overflowing love. And until now, I still look after them since they still live with us (ages 1-9 years old).

One of my hobbies is cooking, so I would be glad to help cook and prepare foods for your family. Most dishes I cook are mainly Filipino foods, but I am very much willing to learn more recipes from your home. Also, I love listening to fun and upbeat music that sets up my mood a lot better. I am also interested in arts and crafts, painting and sewing. And hopefully I can enhance my baking skills because it's really such a fun time being in the kitchen. And I'm very much willing to learn more things from your lovely family.
Aside from it, as a Filipino, at very young age we were taught to help with the household chores. Therefore, I can do light work like tidying up, vacuuming, mopping, washing the dishes, doing the laundry, and cleaning the kids’ toys. I can also take care of pets if you have and walk them outside.

Learning is very important to me, that's also the reason why I dream to travel. I know that there's a lot of interesting things that I can learn from. Your culture, tradition, way of living and many more. And with my future experiences with you and your country, I plan to share it with many people, friends, and relatives. Most importantly is my family, I'd like them to know everything that I will encounter through my future host family in my journey as an Au pair.
