My name is Gail, and I’m writing to express my sincere interest in becoming your au pair. Since I was young, I’ve always been curious about the world beyond my own — its people, cultures, and places.
Back in high school, I loved memorizing countries and capitals. My friends and I even turned it into a quiz game during breaks. That simple hobby awakened my fascination with the world. I remember staring at computer wallpapers of other countries and wondering what life might be like there. I didn’t have my own computer then, but through a scholarship in college, I was able to get a laptop — and the first thing I did was set a colorful world map as my wallpaper, a reminder of that dream.
Even as I grew older, that curiosity stayed with me. After college, I worked as a non-voice call center agent. Though demanding, the job taught me discipline, patience, and perseverance. Still, my dream to experience life abroad — not as a tourist, but as someone who could live and learn with another family — remained strong. That’s why I see the au pair program as a meaningful opportunity to grow, serve, and share my care and dedication within a loving home.
My passion for childcare began in our church, where I volunteered as a Childcare Assistant and Teaching Support Ministry for Sunday School and community extension classes for about three years. Working with children brought me so much joy and fulfillment. I love guiding them, listening to their imaginative stories, and seeing how they learn and grow.
Our outreach classes were often held in humble communities where children ran barefoot yet full of laughter. Teaching there humbled me deeply — it taught me patience, resourcefulness, and compassion. It made me realize that every child, no matter their situation, deserves care, attention, and love.
Aside from childcare, I also help at home with our 15 dogs and 5 cats. Taking care of them every day has strengthened my sense of responsibility, consistency, and empathy. I’m very comfortable living with pets and would be happy to help care for them too.
As an au pair, I will respect and follow your family’s house rules, especially regarding your children’s routines, safety, and well-being. I aim to create a warm and supportive environment where kids feel safe, valued, and free to express themselves.
I am comfortable using English as my second language and can communicate fluently and clearly. I believe that good communication builds trust and understanding with both parents and children. I’m also eager to learn your language, your traditions, and family values — and I’d love to discover your local cuisine as well, since food is a wonderful way to connect and share culture.
