Dear future host family,

I am Elsie Jane, you can call me Elsie, single, 27 years old from the Philippines on a small island called Bohol. I acquired my Philippine passport last 2018 and it will expire in 2028. I am currently living with my family, we are 7 siblings, me as the fifth child and we have two dogs named Max and Maximo. In my spare time, I love watching movies and reading, especially novels and motivational books.

I would like you to know that I am a newbie when it comes to this kind of program, about being an au pair. I may not have proper or formal experience with taking care of kids but I used to babysit my younger siblings and even my nieces and nephews when they were young, to be exact it is kind of like a tradition for Filipinos to look after younger siblings or relatives while the parents are away for work. So, growing up, I was already exposed to that kind of work.

I have the experience working as an online and offline English tutor for both kids and adults, but mostly I teach children ages 3 and above. However, because of the pandemic, I was not able to continue teaching offline so therefore I decided to focus more on online teaching. Now, I work from home from 7 am until 9 pm PHT but that doesn't mean that I am only working during those hours, I can still do things in between such as cooking which I like very much, doing chores, meeting my friends, and spending time with my family. I can say that doing this kind of job (online teaching) for 5 years is a great opportunity for me to learn about various cultures and I know that if I become an au pair, it would give me more chances to broaden my knowledge, especially about the Dutch culture. If I would be given a chance to look after your kids, I can guarantee you that I'll do my best to meet their needs and enjoy life with them. I love children and I enjoy spending time with them. In fact, I sometimes go to my friend's house If I am not busy to visit my two-year-old godchild just to spend time and play with him.

I believe that I am prepared and well aware of the fact that being like a big sister for your three children comes along with responsibilities. My calm and patient personality will help me master difficult situations or tasks that I might come across as time goes by.

I would expect that the first couple of weeks would be exhausting given the adjustments that I have to deal with along with knowing your kids. But I am sure that I will adapt to new tasks, and daily routines and become a helping hand for you as well. I assure you that I'm an easygoing person and I am not demanding. I respect that each house has house rules that we have to follow and that's not a problem for me. I have never spent a long time abroad but I had the experience working away from my family in my previous company so I don't think I will get homesick easily.
