Hi! My name is Dee Vanna, but you can call me Dee. I’m from the Philippines, and I’m currently working as a university instructor in Food Science and Technology. While my work is focused on science and education, I have always enjoyed connecting with people, learning about different cultures, and being part of a supportive community.
I grew up in a close-knit Filipino family where caring for one another is a big part of our culture. In the Philippines, it is very common for older children to help take care of younger cousins, and I was able to experience this while growing up. These moments taught me patience, responsibility, and how meaningful it is to guide and support children as they learn and grow.
I would describe myself as a caring, responsible, and curious person. I enjoy spending time with children because I love seeing their creativity, curiosity, and excitement as they discover new things. I also enjoy cooking, trying different foods, exploring new places, and learning about other cultures. As a Food Technologist, I would be happy to share Filipino food and traditions with your family while also learning about yours.
I am interested in becoming an au pair because I want to experience life in another culture while building a genuine connection with a host family. I hope to be more than just someone who helps with childcare—I would love to become a trusted and supportive older sister figure to your children, someone they can have fun with, learn from, and feel comfortable around.
