Introduction
My name is Sophia Emmalyn, 23 years old and I'm from Metro Manila, Philippines. I currently live with my aunt and two younger cousins, providing daily childcare and household support as she works two jobs. I consider myself a very resilient and easygoing person. I easily blend into new routines and am always ready to pivot with a smile whenever plans change. During my free time, i spend most of it doing the hobbies i developed such as making crochets, painting, drawing/sketching and what i love the most is cooking. I often cook for my family as i have enjoyed trying out different recipes. Aside from cooking, i'm also a proud baker myself. I indulge in making breads and pastries with the kids. I also love outdoor adventures as i play racket sports during weekends.
I lived with my wonderful family of three, consisting of my parents and myself, before moving into my aunt's house. She took me in when my mom needed to go to Hongkong as an OFW. I grew up in a close-knit extended family, so I’m very used to a lively household. We are a church driven household so we often volunteer on helping small chapels in our province by providing assistance in any way we think we could help with. My family have taught me the importance of kindness, responsibility and good patience that i carry wherever i go.
My heart for childcare comes from raising my cousins. I moved in with my aunt at 17 and became a big sister to Jel when she was two, and to Isaiah from the moment he was a newborn. I changed their diapers, taught them their nursery songs, how to identify colors, numbers, and taking care of them from such a young age taught me true patience and love. They said that childcare is hard, but children are great reciprocators with the love and gentleness you give them. I helped my aunt in the household by doing simple tasks, hoping to support her in all the wonderful efforts she puts into raising us. I love a clean and organized space. Since then, i have always loved keeping the home neat and presentable, as i believed that a house is a sanctuary. I love keeping a smooth, loving routine for the kids. My day starts with making breakfast, packing school snacks, and school drop-offs. Afterward, I take care of the house by doing laundry, dishes, changing the bedsheets and keeping everything tidy. When the kids are home, I love planning creative indoor crafts or heading outdoors for active games to keep the kids happily engaged. Evenings are my favorite time—I often cook dinner for everyone, help the kids with their homework, and put them to bed when my aunt works overtime. I am flexible with work around the house too, nothing beats a clean space afterall.
Being an Aupair is an exciting opportunity for me to gain a lot of experiences. I'd love to learn a new culture and share mine as well. Discovering a lot of things and languages excites me, while i enjoy spending time with children, teaching them, and helping them grow. I want not to be just an aupair, but to be a supportive member of the family. Whenever I look at the children I care for, I think about what they will remember about me when they get older. I truly want to be that warm, dependable big sister who brought them comfort, laughter, and a safe space to just be themselves. I want this journey to remind me how becoming a part of a household, with a different culture gave me confidence to navigate through something that was new to me. Beyond the wonderful experience of travel and discovery, this journey is about the joy of giving back to a family that trusted me from day one.
Thank you for taking the time in getting to know me. I am incredibly excited to join your home, look after the little ones and support your daily routines. I'm so looking forward to meeting you all soon!
Sincerely Yours,
Sophia Emmalyn
