I'm Rizka and I’m 25 years old and I’m from Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2023, I graduated with a degree in English Literature. Currently, I work as a Front Desk and Public Relations officer at a guesthouse in Jakarta.
I have two sisters, one is six years older than me and one is four years younger. I live with my parents and my younger sister, while my older sister is married and lives nearby with her family. Growing up in a close and supportive family has taught me the importance of communication, patience, responsibility, and caring for one another.
I would describe myself as a positive, simple, and open-minded person. I believe that everything happens for a reason. If I don’t achieve something even after putting in a lot of effort, I allow myself to feel sad for a short time, but then I stand up again and keep moving forward. I always try to look on the bright side and create a happy and comfortable environment around me. I think it is very important to feel safe and supported, especially in a family.
Recently, I developed a new hobby: walking or jogging in the evening after work. At first, it was just light exercise because I love food, especially sweets but now I truly enjoy it. Watching the sunset during my walks helps me relax and recharge after a busy day. I also have a strong interest in food and fashion. I love trying different kinds of food and exploring new places to eat. I also enjoy dressing up when going out, but I’m perfectly comfortable dressing simply for daily activities.
Although I do not have formal professional childcare experience, I have meaningful hands-on experience caring for children in my family. I often take care of my nephew when my older sister needs help. I help him with daily routines, prepare simple meals, play educational games, read stories, and make sure he feels safe and happy. We enjoy playing with stacking blocks, animal figures, Play-Doh, and watching cartoons together. I also help supervise and engage my cousins’ children during family gatherings. Through these experiences, I have learned how to handle active children with patience, creativity, and responsibility.
During university, I volunteered to teach English in villages. Working with children from different backgrounds taught me patience, adaptability, and how to communicate clearly and kindly. It was a very meaningful experience that strengthened my confidence in working with kids.
Regarding driving, I have a driver’s license and can drive a car. However, I rarely drive on weekdays because I live in the very center of Jakarta, where traffic is extremely heavy, and it is more practical to use other transportation. I usually drive on weekends when going to malls, cafés, or visiting family. I am willing to practice more and improve my driving skills to meet the needs of my future host family.
I want to become an au pair because I genuinely enjoy being around children and being part of a family’s daily life. Becoming an au pair in the USA will give me the opportunity to experience American culture, family values, and traditions, while also improving my English and growing personally and professionally.
I believe you should choose me as your au pair because I am responsible, warm, and genuinely caring. Working in hospitality has trained me to be attentive, organized, and calm under pressure. I am used to helping people and creating a comfortable environment. I will treat your children with patience and love, just like I treat my own family. I am also open to learning and adjusting to your family’s rules and routines. I want to be not only a helper, but also a big sister and a positive role model for your children.
