Dear Host Family,

my name is Fathia. I’m 24 years old and was born and raised in Indonesia. I live in a city called Bandung, which is about three hours away from the capital city, Jakarta. Throughout my whole life, I have lived here, from elementary school until university. Bandung is definitely my home. I am the second of two children and grew up with two loving parents who have always supported me in pursuing my dreams, from wanting to be a dancer to eventually becoming a German teacher. I have been learning German since high school. With the support of my parents, I received a scholarship for a summer course in Germany in 2019, and this experience made me fall in love with the country. Later, I worked hard to study German Education at university and received another scholarship to spend one semester abroad in Heidelberg. Living there for five months deepened my appreciation for German culture and daily life. These experiences, combined with my passion for the language, are the main reasons why I want to become an Au Pair. I want to immerse myself even more in the culture, improve my language skills, and get to know German life from a family perspective.

I grew up in a fairly large family. My father has eight older siblings and my mother has three. Because of that, my life has always been surrounded by children. One of my nephews, Kean, who is now three years old, lives just in front of my house. Since both of his parents work full-time, I often spend time with him and look after him. We do many things together: singing, dancing, drawing, learning letters and numbers, building tents, riding a bike, or simply playing indoors when it rains. I always try to make sure that our activities help his development, whether by teaching him something new or encouraging his creativity. Sometimes I also feed him and cook for him. For me, he is not just a nephew but almost like a little brother I feel responsible for. Spending time with children comes naturally to me and has always been a meaningful part of my life.

I believe I would be a good fit for your family because I am responsible, caring, patient, and eager to learn. As someone who has lived abroad alone, I am independent and adaptable. My background as a German teacher also helps me communicate well, stay organized, and be attentive to children’s learning processes. I enjoy being active, creative, and supportive, and I would love to bring positive energy into your household. As your Au Pair, I would be committed not only to taking care of your children but also to becoming a trusted and reliable member of your family.
