Introduction
My name is Eileen Isabella, I am 25 years old and I come from Germany. German is my native language and I also speak English at around B2–C1 level. I am currently studying Business Administration and I have several years of childcare-related experience.
My experience includes two years of voluntary social work in a kindergarten/daycare environment, one year of training as a social pedagogical assistant, two childcare-related internships, occasional babysitting and my current part-time nanny position. I have experience with children from around 10 months to 7 years old, so I am familiar with different stages of early childhood development.
At the moment, I work as a nanny for a little girl. I started working with her when she was 13 months old, and she turned two in April. She has become like a little sister to me, and we have built a very close and trusting relationship. I support her through daily routines, play, emotional care and language development.
One of my strongest methods is natural language immersion. I speak with children throughout the day in a warm and natural way, even when they are still very young and do not answer much yet. I describe what we are doing, repeat words, ask simple questions, name objects and gently encourage them without pressure. With the little girl I currently care for, I have seen how much this can support language development. Over time, she started speaking more, answering more and improving her pronunciation. This experience showed me how powerful daily communication, repetition and emotional closeness can be for young children.
I would love to become an au pair in China because I am very interested in Chinese culture, Mandarin and everyday family life in China. I do not want to experience China only as a tourist. I would like to become part of a family environment, learn about Chinese culture from the inside and also share my own language and culture with the children.
I see the au pair role mainly as a cultural exchange and a big sister role. I would like to support the children with English or German, play with them, read books, do creative activities, talk to them during daily routines and help them learn naturally through everyday life. I do not see the au pair role as simple babysitting, and I am not looking for a housekeeping position. My focus is childcare, language support, play, learning and cultural exchange.
Of course, I am happy to help with small child-related tasks, such as tidying up the play area together after playing, putting away children's books or toys and keeping the children's activity space organized.
Since learning Mandarin is also an important part of my au pair stay, I would like to attend Chinese language classes and have enough time to study for them properly. For this reason, my ideal schedule would be around 20–25 au pair hours per week.
Because I bring several years of childcare-related experience, German as my native language, English skills and a 120-hour TEFL/TESOL certificate, I hope to find a family that values quality childcare, language support and cultural exchange. For this reason, I believe my expected weekly pocket money is fair and reasonable.
I am responsible, patient, caring and attentive. I take children seriously, listen to them and support their emotional, social and language development. I would be happy to find a warm, respectful and open-minded host family that sees me as a big sister and language companion for the children, not as an employee or housekeeper.
I would prefer to live in a larger or well-connected city in China, such as Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen or a similar city. I hope to attend Mandarin classes, explore Chinese culture and build a respectful and positive relationship with my host family.
Thank you very much for reading my letter. I would be happy to get to know you and your children.
Best regards,
Eileen
