My name is Romane, an 18-year-old student from Toulouse, a city in the southwest of France. I grew up with my two parents and my older brother (not forgetting my cat Patouch) in a small house with a garden, and I had a perfectly ordinary childhood and upbringing.

I am half American on my mother’s side, and I have therefore had the chance to speak English since childhood, which has made me very comfortable with languages today. In addition, my studies in France have allowed me to reach an academic level sufficient to give private lessons or teach French to your children.

After graduating from high school, I decided to become independent in Lyon. Looking for a new adventure, I enrolled and I am currently studying humanities, more precisely in a Classe Préparatoire aux Grandes Écoles (CPGE).

This past year has allowed me to discover the adult world (in my own way) and to grow. I have learned to live on my own, maintain my apartment, do my laundry, cook healthy and varied meals, and manage my budget. However, as I am pursuing very selective and intensive studies aimed at preparing for highly prestigious entrance exams (ENS), I have felt a little lost...

Because in reality, I am an outgoing, lively person with a strong thirst for discovery. I have a natural ease with languages, which allows me to communicate with people of all ages and nationalities. I am very curious, passionate about reading and cinema, and I would be very happy to discuss these with you. I would also like to work in the film industry, specifically in film directing.

I deeply love nature, walks, as well as travelling and discovering cultures and landscapes different from those I know. I am also a classical dancer; I took my first dance steps at the age of 3 and have never stopped. I have been able to refine this through many schools and a wide range of teachers, who have also passed on to me a certain approach to teaching. I am generally a sporty person; I enjoy running and hiking to stay in shape.

I believe that if you asked any of my relatives what my greatest quality is, they would most likely talk about my overflowing imagination. I love writing stories, telling them, and staging them. It is especially years of theatre and several short films that illustrate how I put this quality into practice. And I think this is why I get along so well with younger children, with whom I can share this imagination by bringing them into my world. I actually created a theatre club with younger children when I was still in primary school, organised activities with younger children during events such as weddings, gave classical dance lessons to very young children, and volunteered as an activity leader in summer camps.

But do not get me wrong, I am not childish; I believe I am grounded and responsible. I know how to lead a group and earn respect thanks to my strong personality.

And I think it is precisely this balance between creativity and authority that makes me a strong candidate for your search.

Therefore, I have decided to spend a year in England, living with a host family, in order to discover their culture and way of life, and perhaps build a relationship that I hope will go beyond this experience. It is also the opportunity to discover a new city with different personalities and practices that motivates my decision. All of this while saving some money and doing what I am passionate about: meeting people. It is also a time for me to focus on myself, learn a new language (German), take driving lessons, and obtain a language certification...
