Alisson Romina
Hello Dear Host Family,
My name is Alisson, and I’m 22 years old. I’m from Quito, the beautiful capital of Ecuador. I currently live with my mother, my little sister, my lovely cat, and my grandparents. On weekends, I visit my dad and my grandmother.
In my family, we have three children: my sister Martina, my cousin Ignacio, who is 10 years old, and my little cousin Tomás, who is 7. I have cared for them since they were babies and have always enjoyed being their role model and older sister. We love spending time together and visiting new tourist spots in Ecuador, such as cities, museums, coffee shops, and parks.
I am studying early childhood education (to become a preschool teacher) at Universidad Estatal de Milagro (on the coast of Ecuador). A year ago, I completed an internship at a daycare. We were three caregivers responsible for teaching and caring for 12 children aged between 1 and 5 years old. I learned a lot from the teachers about patience and love in educating children. We also had a routine that included playtime, changing diapers, helping with potty training, and feeding the younger children, aged 1 to 2 years, with spoons. We also explored nature and played outdoors. I organized activities to develop motor and sensory skills.
In my babysitting jobs, I enjoyed learning new routines with each family and getting to know each child’s personality. I played with them in parks, did projects with recycled materials, and my favorite activities were baking desserts and playing board games. In a school context, I helped two children with their verbal development and concentration, allowing them to improve their skills.
I’m an energetic and active person. I love artistic activities like dancing, painting, cooking, listening to music, or just going for a walk. I also enjoy board games and working on projects with recycled materials. I love exploring new places and learning about different cultures.
I hope that my future host family will treat me like an older sister and allow me to become part of their family. My biggest dream is to have my own daycare in Ecuador one day, and this program will provide me with the experience I need to achieve that dream.
