Dear host family,
My name is Karol, I am 21 years old and I currently live in Colombia (Sogamoso), a small and cozy city with my mother Sandra, my siblings: Tatiana, 16 years old, and Sebastian, 25 years old, with whom I enjoy spending my time, my grandmother, aunt and our two pets ¨Lucho and Nani¨.
I am currently studying a degree in psychology, which I am passionate about and from it my passion for helping people is born because mental health is very important to me, I had to do university activities, therefore I spent some time away from home living with colleagues In which I discovered the ease of adapting to customs and new routines.
I am very lucky to have a family union, we celebrate important dates, we have traditions and we travel together.
In my family there are many children so I grew up surrounded by them, paying attention to them, taking care of them and pampering them. In fact, one of my first paid experiences interacting and taking care of children was with my neighbors' son whom I accompanied for a year while his parents worked, it was there where I loved the experience and strengthened my vocation.
So far I have taken care of 5 children with an age range between 2-11 years old, I accompanied them from picking them up from the garden and school until the rest of the afternoon and most of the time I had to accompany them at night, we used to do schoolwork and we attended extracurricular activities. I feel very happy because it really is a job that I am passionate about.
I am a very active person and I love outdoor activities, like dancing and hiking, I like to exercise my body with the gym and my mind with reading.
I have a B1 grade international driver's license, which allows me to travel with the children wherever they need to go. I also took a first aid course with an emphasis on early childhood care, something that will be very useful during my stay.
I made the decision to join this program because it is an opportunity for my personal and professional growth, I really enjoy time with children, I learn new things and I love the role of practicing. I chose the US as my destination because after finishing the program I want to specialize in child psychology, I love American culture and I want to improve my English.
