Dear host family
My name is Maria Alejandra , I am 19 years old. I am from Bogota, the capital of Colombia. About the city where I was born I can tell you that it is a bit noisy and with many inhabitants, but with a nice atmosphere and wonderful and welcoming people. I lived there with my mom Jenny and my sister Isabella until 2015. In September of that same year I moved to Fusagasugá, a small town near Bogotá, to finish my last years of school.
I had been preparing myself for a long time, without knowing that this beautiful possibility of being an Au Pair would cross my path. My trip to you was not something planned, but this sudden opportunity presented itself in my life and now it is my dream come true, because I love taking care of children, making them smile, bringing good things to their lives and learning from them every day.
My love for children started the day I decided to volunteer at my church. When I got there, I was surprised to find out that I would not have to take care of 5 children or maybe 10, but that I would have to take care of 20 to 30 children at the same time with a nice team. That work became my passion, I understood that a child is a gift from heaven to the world, who comes to show us true happiness and love for all creation.
For this reason, when I am asked what I like about children, I answer: what we can learn from them, their sincerity, their unconditional love and their happiness.
¿Qué les puedo decir de mí? I am responsible, charismatic, delicate, creative, dedicated, spiritual, empathetic and patient with children. In my daily routine I am organized, decisive and dynamic. I love spending quality time with my family, my friends and my pets. Amo a perros y gatos. I am a very active and versatile person. I make friends easily and adapt to situations, I am resourceful and creative, I love to sing and dance. For many years I practiced swimming in a recognized entity in Colombia and I also belonged to a cheerleading team, I liked to play soccer and volleyball at school with my friends.
For several years I was an active member of the Huellas youth movement. Huellas is an organization dedicated to the socio-religious formation of adolescents and young people capable of performing actions of service and solidarity with those most in need, through processes of accompaniment for personal and human growth. This allowed me to participate as a leader and to have under my responsibility a group of children from 9 to 18 years old, carrying out recreational-educational activities around Christian spirituality performing tasks such as planning, executing and evaluating the activities.
Currently I work in Baby Soul Spa, where we do early stimulation activities that significantly enhance the psychomotor development of children between 2 months and 7 years, aquatic stimulation and music therapy. Additionally I do homework tutoring and I always seek to teach: commitment, responsibility and dedication. And thus, during and at the end of the process to show a better performance and love for studying.
The reason why I decided to do it is the pleasure of having an adventure in another country in a familiar environment, which I really value. I am very excited about this opportunity, I know that living with your children and with you, in a different and beautiful country like the United States, will increase my personal formation, will help me grow and I will learn a lot. I would also love to be part of your family and contribute some of my culture and knowledge.
