Hello potential host family!
I have lived in America for my whole life, but it has always been a dream of mine to get to know other parts of the world!
In the past 6 months, I have been starting to learn the basics of German through online applications, but one of my goals as an au pair is to learn more about the culture and language in person!
I have experience working in childcare here in America, and have been working at a preschool since 2020. Working with young children is something that brings me joy and comfort, and I love watching them grow and being able to teach them new things.
This past Winter I had the opportunity to visit Germany and explore many parts of Berlin, and I would love to be able to thrive there and help meet your needs.

Personality:
I think of myself as being a fun-loving individual with a caring personality. I can be quite shy when you first meet me, but I tend to open up over time and my family and friends tell me that I have a good sense of humor. It is also important to me that I treat everyone I meet with respect, and be responsible within myself and around others.
Family:
I have always been a very family-oriented person since I was younger! I live with my parents and my older brother. My mother is a director at a school for children 18 months old through Grade 6. Which is where I learned to love teaching and taking care of children! And my father leads music at a church. My brother also works with a young boy who has Autism and helps him in school.
I enjoy hanging out with friends when I can, and I also enjoy spending free time with my boyfriend who I have been with since 2022. He was born and raised in Germany and still lives there, but we talk on the phone often and try to plan trips together whenever possible.
Education:
During my last year of high school, I was attending classes 2-3 days per week and working 2 days a week. I graduated high school in 2022 and continued teaching where I currently work. While I was still in school, my main focus was on the art field (mainly photography and graphic design.)
My job experience includes a 6-month internship that focused on photography, communications, and social media.
I have also worked as a part-time office assistant at the school.
As well as my current job as a preschool teacher. (2021-current)
Through my work here in the U.S, I have done a few trainings focused on childcare, and I have been trained in CPR.
Hobbies:
Doing new things and exploring new surroundings is a hobby of mine since I love getting to experience new and different things.
I also love painting, drawing, and doing any sort of art whenever I get the chance to.
I love nature as well, so I love going for walks or picnics to enjoy every bit of it.
Cooking and baking have been a love of mine since I was young! I love trying new recipes and making food for my loved ones.
Experience:
As I have mentioned above, my mother is the director at a school and has been ever since I was born! So I grew up around this sort of work environment and have always loved helping out with kids! When I was 16 years old I started working part-time at the school, and for the past 3 years, I have worked as a 2-year-old teacher. I also have experience babysitting and taking care of children one-on-one. I love my job and I love what I do, but I think getting to be able to help out and take care of children in another country, while also getting to experience some of the culture and language would be a dream!
Language:
My first language is English and I feel most confident speaking that.
I took 3 years of Spanish in school so I can speak/read/write basic Spanish.
I have taught myself a little German through Duolingo online over the past 6 months, so I cannot speak a lot of it, but I know a handful of common words and phrases. I hope through being an au pair that I can improve my German language skills.
As I mentioned previously, I have recently traveled to Germany and spent a little bit of time there (about 6 weeks,) so I hope to continue to improve my language skills.
Motivations:
My motivations to becoming an au pair are:
1. To become more independent (since I have lived with my family my whole life)
2. To learn more of the German language and spend more time there
3. To bond with a lovely family/children, help them grow however I can, and help you out however you need me!
Expectations:
I don't have many expectations at all when it comes to being an au pair, I am very flexible and happy to help however I can. I am willing to help with any needs around the house as well as with children, of course.
I do love to explore, and with my boyfriend living in Germany, I would ideally like to be able to spend some of my free time out and about, but I am happy to communicate about this.
I do not have any specific start/end dates or how long I would be staying with a host family, however I could possibly start in Fall 2024 (Sept.-Oct.)
