Dear future host family,
My name is Alejandra. I’m 21 years old, and I was born and raised in the city of Sogamoso, Colombia. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and
express my excitement about the possibility of joining your family as an Au Pair. I grew up in a sunny and quiet place with plenty of mountains, lakes,
and good people. My hometown city is known as “The City of the Sun and the Steel”. It is a historic city, known for its pre-Columbian heritage and
colonial architecture. I lived here with my beautiful mom, she is a spectacular Christian person. My mother gave me the foundation to build my
character, morals, and beliefs shaping me into a responsible, empathetic, and compassionate individual who can contribute positively to society.
When I was 16 years old I moved to Duitama to finish high school. I got a Diploma in Administration and Finance at Técnico Simon Bolivar High
School. In addition, I decided to start a coffee restaurant business at the age of 16. After I graduated I moved to Bogotá, which is the capital of
Colombia when I was 18. I wanted to study medicine in Argentina but at that time the pandemic arrived and I could not travel. However, the pandemic
gave me time to think about what I really wanted to pursue in my life. It has given me the opportunity to realize that I would like to study languages and
travel the world, but most importantly I learned about investing. I was so fascinated by learning to create my financial freedom that I constantly have
been learning more about business and money management. As well, I want to build my values to be able to change this world, help others, and
cultivate good things in this world.
Over the past few years, I realized that I have a passion for working with children. I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging
environment for your children. I am comfortable with helping with homework, planning activities, preparing meals, and light housekeeping duties related
to the children's care. Additionally, I would love to have the opportunity to travel more and help people around the world and meet many people from
different places. I am aware that raising a child involves providing love, guidance, and support. It is essential to set boundaries and expectations while
encouraging independence and individuality. A healthy environment that fosters communication, positive reinforcement, and consistency is key.
Leading by example and teaching good values along with important life skills will help them thrive and succeed.
Being away from home and dealing with different people has helped me to mature and grow as a person.Thanks to my experience working with a
variety of people I have gained a lot of patience and am able to communicate better to resolve misunderstandings. I am studying psychology because
it's a fascinating field where I can explore the complexities of human behavior, emotions, and thought processes. I believe that psychology can help
provide a better understanding of children's emotions, behaviors, and cognitive development. Having the ability to understand a child better and
connect with them will allow me to be a better Au Pair.
In addition to working with children in kindergarten, I also took care of a 4-year-old girl during the summer of 2022. I taught her important life skills such
as folding her own clothes, organizing toys, and how to brush her teeth properly. Also I had her participate in cognitive learning activities to help
develop her intelligence. Also, I took care of a 10-year-old girl from November 2022 to January 2023. She was a spectacular girl who was very
intelligent. I took her to school, assisted her with homework, helped her to learn English, and taught her about God. Even though I'm not her babysitter
anymore, she still continues to visit me with her mom and we go to church every Sunday. I love volunteering my time to teach children English at my
church.
The reason why I decided to pursue a job as an Au Pair is because I want to experience the pleasure of having an adventure in another country with
an incredible family that feels like home. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to see children grow and become great people in this world! I know that
living with your children and with you in a different country will be a pleasurable experience that I would treasure for the rest of my life. Lastly, I am very
excited about the opportunity to get to know you better and become a member of your family.
