For 1 year (March 2008-09) I was living with a family in the Netherlands, taking care of 4 boys (ages 5, 3 and twins 1 year). It was alot of work at times but I feel very lucky to have had such a neat experience. I think it is alot of fun being around kids, and they are the perfect excuse to act like a complete goofball. I am constantly dancing and singing and making monkey noises. Everyday is something new. In 2010 I took a position with a family in France with a 7 year old boy and 3 year old girl. I relocated with them to Dubai where I met my (now ex)husband (married 7 years) who was working as a lifeguard at the time. I enjoy children and take pride in correcting bad habits and having fun along the way. I'm up for a challenge but the parents have to be on board as well... The key to a successful nanny/parent relationship is communication and flexibility on both ends. It's important to have a clear idea of what's expected on both ends for the relationship to work. I am currently a single mother of a fantastic 5 year old boy. He is well behaved and desperate for friends since he won't start school til next year and he has no brothers or sisters. My ideal position would accept me with my son into your family as part of the family. He would receive no special treatment from me and would actually receive a little tougher treatment as I'm his sole parent and am expected to raise him into a respectable adult. He really doesn't cause any trouble though and is a very happy, loving boy (knock on wood). I enjoy learning and teaching and adore cultural exchange, the opportunity to do what I love abroad is amazing and I always encourage people to do it. Ask me anything and I will be honest...
