My father is getting older and is overwhelmed after the loss of his wife unexpectedly last year. It was and still is traumatic. I came to see that he has let everything go. I do have a brother aged 34 living there but he has never been helpful and is not your responsibility.
Dad is completely self reliant and mentally sound. He drives, cooks, cleans what he can and does laundry. He needs assistance and companionship. He doesn’t eat meat (only fish) and is an outdoor smoker. He will need help keeping up with the occasional:-
*Home cleaning
*Organizing
*Cooking
*Linens
*Socializing
It will be great (but not necessary) if the candidate candidate also:-
*drive him to appointments and doctor visits.
*Make “BOSS” Fried bake and is a great Trini baker.
*Familia with the Sangre Grande, Arima, POS areas.
*Has some nursing/HHA background
I personally am looking for someone who pays attention not just to his living situation and keep him engaged, but to keep an eye out for his mental and physical well-being. He is getting older and hates doctors. Because I am not there he puts off appointments. If this person can encourage him when he has concerns and will take him to the doctors, that will be heaven sent!
