Our family is seeking a joyful, selfless Senior caregiver for our husband/father. We are a fun-loving, educated, caring family. Our caregiver should be positive, joyful, calming, and motivated. Caring for a family member with dementia causes grief; caregiver should be able to add joy and love to the home. Position is available now. Dad/husband has always been a kind, thoughtful man. He's mild-mannered and doesn’t have anger outbursts.

Caregiver’s accommodation is a two bedroom cottage across the street from our home. In caregiver cottage, caregiver will live alone, and have private bedroom and bathroom. The cottage has LR, DR, kitchen, garage, patio, and nice yard which we’ll maintain. Living space may be used for activities with Dad. Eventually caregiver may transition to live in our home. We prefer caregiver have their own vehicle. We live in a safe, large, gated community with walking trails and other amenities.

Dad/husband lives with Mom/his wife. She will be home often during the caregiver's workday.
Job would include these activities with Dad: go for walks, throw Frisbee, read the newspaper, brain activities (coloring, word searches, computer games, legos), engage in conversation, physical activities (ping pong, exercise videos, shoot basketball in driveway, light weights).
We'd like caregiver to travel with us for occasional trips. We travel to Florida, local mountains, and local beaches. Will begin with trial period so caregiver and we can be sure it's a good fit. We're glad to discuss our thoughts about current and future care.

Aiken, SC, is a beautiful medium sized town. The population in the city is 30,000 (170,000 in the county). Aiken has won awards of All-America City, and was voted “Best Small Town in the South” by Southern Living Magazine. People are friendly here - they say hello in passing and are courteous drivers. Many retire here for outdoor activities, golf, horseback riding, and tennis. If you enjoy hiking, Hitchcock Woods is the largest privately owned urban forest in the country, and is open for public use. Aiken is close to lakes, beaches, and mountains. Close to Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Asheville, Hilton Head, and Savannah. Shopping and restaurants are great for a town this size. Our family has both small town and big city life experience. Our adult children live in their own homes. They are welcome in our lives.
