I have completed the OCN London registered activities coordinator course and gained knowledge at care homes ( as an activities leader and personal assessment provider both for the Dementia Unit and Residential Unit)and for private families working as a lifestyle coordinator, tutor and activities
organiser. I have done lots of pieces of training like "Understanding Mental Capacity 2005", "Dementia Awareness ", " Moving and Handling including First Aid"," Equality and Diversity", and" Basic Food Hygiene ". I am also providing art therapy and different recreational exercises (chair-based, bed-bond, special exercises with a medical soft-body ball), with a range of creative mental health activities (creative writing, shared reading - read aloud a poem session, word games-scrabble, special memory board and card games, reminiscence, life map and story sessions, favourite quotes, movie quiz, and outings sessions visiting special venues and joining in local events, fine dining. library visit, attending lectures at exhibitions, and helping to maintain and manage positive social interactions with long-distance friends, relatives and wide families. goal is to engage and encourage different people
to reach their true potential and help them to try new things and activities, enabling them to
continue and take part in the hobbies and sessions that made them who they are. I am always focusing on the people / the human being behind his/ her condition.
Those with dementia and learning difficulties are still whole people and valued members of the community/ society and they still have stories and memories and character as they are all individuals and unique. They need to be interacted with on a human level and need to be treated with respect and
dignity.
