My name is Isabela, and I’m so excited about this opportunity to be a personal caregiver. I am 24 years old and live in South Carolina in the United States, though I am a dual citizen of the UK through my father. I come from a loving blended family of my staunch atheist immigrant British father, first-gen devout Catholic Cuban American mother, and an older brother from my mom’s first marriage. My family always emphasised respect and empathy towards others, which shaped who I am today.

Growing up, I lived with my family and my grandfather, who I consistently cared for from the age of 11 until I went to university. I then cared for him from home until his passing in 2023. Caring for your elders is extremely important in Cuban culture, and I took that aspect very seriously, especially after I moved away from home to obtain my degrees. I studied in the UK for my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in prosthetic effects for film and TV. While I was away studying in the UK, I worked in a nunnery during COVID-19, caring for elderly nuns with end-of-life illnesses and varying stages of dementia because I had missed caring for my grandfather, who was a Deacon in the Catholic Church my entire life.

I have always been drawn to caregiving roles because they allow me to connect deeply with people and contribute to their well-being. Over the past years, I have gained experience assisting people with daily routines, including meal preparation, bathing and personal hygiene, medication management, mobility support, and companionship. These experiences have taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and creating an environment of dignity and respect. I am happy to adapt to any specific needs or preferences for you or your loved ones to help make the overall experience more enjoyable for everyone. I am also skilled in household management tasks like cleaning, laundry, and organizing, which contribute to maintaining a pleasant living environment. People describe me as dependable and discreet. I understand the importance of privacy while providing attentive care. Whether sharing stories over tea (one of my favorite things to do) or assisting with errands, I aim to bring positivity and warmth into your home.

I am a bubbly and easygoing person, known for my ability to make awkward or difficult situations comfortable for everyone involved. Outside of caregiving, my hobbies are reading, art, singing, gardening, and charity shopping. I love art in almost every medium and would love to incorporate arts activities into my care work as well as my other hobbies.
