I extended an offer to Michelle in the beginning of August 2017 after interviewing her in person at the end of July. She agreed on the position over the phone and agreed on a start date of August 27th. Leading up to the start date she was excited about the opportunity and we had open dialogue. Well, August 27th came and left and Michelle never showed up. She indicated that she had no place to store her furniture and that she was still obligated to her apartment lease. I offered to help pay for a mover to bring her furniture and store it in my house with her, offered to reimburse her security deposit, plus several months rent and she still never moved. I late learned that her year lease was up as of August 31st and taking my opportunity would have been no issue, but then she signed a new 12 month lease as of September 2017. To this date, I do not know why she would have accepted an offer and then a month later renege. I am also out a plane ticket as I purchased a ticket for her to join my family on vacation. Please be careful.
