We have a 9 year old daughter, 7 year old son, and 3 yr old daughter. The older two kids are your typical high-energy, fun loving kids. Our daughter can be very timid and shy, but very outgoing and loving once she gets to know you. Our son is VERY high energy. We usually take them on a bike ride/run in the mornings, both kids are able to run/bike 1-2 miles before they get tired.
We love to explore. We prefer for the kids to limit time watching TV and encourage them to play outdoors as much as possible. Our kids are mud loving and free-spirited. We try to practice a minimalist, "low waste" lifestyle. We also eat mostly plant-based whole foods and do not like to buy things like chips and candy. Please do not apply to this position if you believe that spanking and yelling are effective discipline practices. Please do not apply if things like composting or using cloth napkins bother you.

We currently reside in Hampden County, Massachusetts. We are open to part-time or full-time, live-in preferred. We are an adventurous family of 5, going on 6, we are expecting another little one in November. We also travel often. We travel between MA/OH/MI where our extended family is. We also often travel and volunteer on organic farms through the WWOOF program.
Our nanny will be treated like part of the family. We will see this person as a partner in supporting our children as they develop, grow and explore the world around them. We are an unschooling/world schooling family. We view and respect our children as autonomous individuals who are fully capable of practicing self-directed learning and intrinsically motivated to reach their full potential. Key responsibilities include working with us to plan and coordinating activities. We will have a weekly planning meeting where we plan out each day of the week. Our kids are part of this planning process.
Skills/Qualities that are important:
-***OK WITH ALLOWING CHILDREN TO BE INDEPENDENT. We do not want you to do every single thing for our children. The older two are fully capable of self-care (bathing, putting on shoes, etc.) and doing simple household chores (washing dishes, making bed, etc.). We ask kindly that you refrain from automatically doing thigs for them and just offer help when needed.***
-Outdoor loving, our children spend the majority of their days outdoors
-Communicates well
-Able to support and guide children rather than micro manage
-Comfortable swimming/snorkeling/diving
-Experienced, knows how to engage children in age-appropriate activities,
-Organized and responsible
-Teaches children how to be responsible--engage them in cleaning up and meal prep
-Open-minded and respectful, sensitive to children's needs
-Comfortable with traveling, mostly within the US, but possibly internationally as well
-Ability to care for highly textured hair. Skills like detangling, braiding, washing and conditioning curly hair are strongly preferred. Or if not, a willingness to learn
