Thank you for reading my profile. I'm English with a First Class (hons) BA.

I've just returned to the UK after almost 3 years in Istanbul and I'm currently volunteering with a family in Hampshire while I look for a paid live in job.

I'm flexible about location but would prefer being by the sea.

I have over 25 years experience taking care of children as a sole charge nanny. I have lots of baby experience including nanny shares, twin and proxy parenting.

I am able to put you in contact with most of the families I have worked for, although not all. My life and experience pre dates things like Dropbox and the internet so some people and references got lost along the way.

I can put you in touch with the first family I worked for whose beautiful daughters are now married with children of their own.

I love working with children and have an genuine affinity with babies. I love to watch them grow and change and see how they thrive when nurtured.

I don't smoke, I rarely drink alcohol, I'm qualified to teach ESOL and I'm happy to travel with families. I think I have quite an old fashioned approach to childcare.

I think children benefit from being outside, learning to use their imagination and to enjoy what they have rather than being exposed to hours of television, computer games and constant stimulation.

We live in an amazing world and I think learning to appreciate this and knowing how to just be still at times is a life skill.

I love to read, get messy and play. I'm almost embarrassingly good at playing. I once had a 3 year old boy describe me as his favourite toy. I'm happy to build sand castles or jump in muddle puddles for hours.

I do believe in setting boundaries with children and while I never lose my temper or raise my voice and always teach children by example I do not believe in giving children what they want because they scream and throw tantrums. I've had many children wrap me round their little fingers and make it almost impossible to say No to them but they did this by being sweet and charming and NOT by screaming.
I believe we learn lessons for life as children and - as we say in England- "You catch more flies with hooney". As adults we all know when you're kind, nice and respectful to others you reap the rewards. this is what I teach children.
