Dear Host Family

I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Sisanda . I am a 34-year old female born and bred in the small village of Sidwadweni, Tsolo location in the province of Eastern Cape, South Africa. I am always happy to share that this is the same village where Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi hails from). I come from a big family. I have two sisters, one brother and two nieces. My mother, Nolitha, is 58 years old. She has five sisters. I am the second child. My older sister, Sandisiwe is 36 years old and works at a bank. My younger sister's name is Sinazo and my younger brother is Kwakhanya. They are both still in school. We come from the Xhosa ethnic group, which is largely found in the Eastern and Western Cape provinces here in South Africa. I love learning new languages as we have eleven official languages in our country. At this moment I am fluent in English, Zulu, Sesotho. I would like to learn languages from other countries as well.

I am an outdoorsy person. I like nature and the natural environment. I like new experiences because they allow me to try new things, meet new people and learn a whole lot of things. In my spare time I go for walks, hiking, cycling, go to the beach and visiting new eateries and beautiful coffee spots. I also like taking road trips and attending outdoor events. I read from time to time, and watch a bit of tv, mostly the news and travel channels. I'm not big on sport, but I enjoy playing netball from time to time.

I joined GreatAuPair because it is my dream to visit other countries and meet new people. I am really good with children, and they like me. I am currently the nanny for my sister's baby boy, he's seven months old. We get along so beautifully, so much so that even though he is still breastfeeding, he does not cry when my sister is at work, which is from 8:00 am to 17:30 pm from Monday to Friday. I take him to all his doctor's appointments as I have a car and valid driver's license. The most recent visit was in August, for his sixth month immunization. He did not even cry and I was so proud and happy :), because I had been worried that he might experience pain and discomfort. I have done a lot of babysitting jobs for families and mothers who needed to work and had problems with last minute cancellations from their nannies. Also, I clean, cook (though I have never cooked food from a different country), do laundry, all the basics.

I believe that children bring out the best in me, with their curios minds, their flexible and adaptive abilities because that is also how I am. I encourage play time because that is where children express their feelings, whether they're happy or sad. Taking walks is another fun time, as they play along the way. As a qualified social worker who has practiced, and worked with children, I have learned that there is so much to gain from these creative beings. I currently tutor three young learners in the afternoons, aged 7 and 8 respectively, and I thoroughly enjoy our English lessons, which I conduct twice a week.

I am currently in South Africa, but I cannot wait to travel to your country and be part of your wonderful family. I have a valid passport and I am hoping I would be able to get an international driver's license should it be a requirement. I am partially vaccinated- I will be getting my second Covid19 vaccine shot at the end of September 2022. I am perfectly healthy and fortunate that I have never been sick from or contracted Covid19 since the outbreak. Thank you so much for taking time to know more about me.
