Introduction
I am a long term resident of Japan with 2 teenage children.
I have 3 years experience working as a caregiver in daycare in Japan, toilet training, feeding children, taking them on outings, as well as in Australia for 2 years at an after school care for elementary aged children. Here I learnt leadership skills, resolving conflicts between children and adjusting quickly to children's needs.
I spent my children's toddler years leading international playgroups with them in Ashiya and Rokko Island. I enjoyed leading the class through song, dance, movement games and craft. I also discussed the parent's and children's needs and adapted the lessons to suit.
Currently I work as a part time English teacher at several daycares teaching 1-5 year olds. Keeping the children involved and interested is vital to a good lesson, therefore along with good lesson planning, I am organised and quick to adjust to change.
My work and life in Japan has allowed me to travel extensively, which I thoroughly enjoy. Moreover, it has taught me how to use the public transportation system, a necessity to living in Japan.
As to my private life, I enjoy just about any kind of craft from papercraft to sewing to beading and knitting. In my spare time I do yoga, hiking, walking and spending time with my dog, finding great places to drink coffee, daily adventures and catching up with friends.
My family volunteered as rescue dog carers for 2 years until we got our own rescue dog. This was a very heart warming job, caring for rescue dogs until a family welcomed the dog into their home.
I also volunteered as the Kansai Representative for AFWJ (Association of Foreign Wives to Japanese), for one year, keeping the Kansai wives informed of events, organising meet ups and assisting new members into life in Japan.
I'm excited to find new opportunities to work with children and would love to have this chance to assist your family.
On top of childcare, I am capable of cooking, cleaning, tutoring, shopping and any day to day chores.
I am happy to fit in to your schedule and help make your life in Japan easier.
