Introduction
Up until 2020 I was working with a family in the Dordogne who had a Wedding business associated with their Chateau. I worked with their children and in the house. Unfortunately the business was badly affected by Covid and we had to leave. On return to Australia I returned to work in the Healthcare sector. In 2019 I worked in the Var area of France in a Housekeeping/Guardian/Concierge role in a wonderful holiday let where we maintained the house and gardens, cleaned between guest bookings and welcomed guests to the property and maintained a presence to assist guests with any needs or inquiries throughout their stay. I was able to provide extra guest services such as servicing their rooms or cooking if they so wished.
Previously I worked in a mansion home in the Lot et Garonne area that was also a Chambre d'Hotes providing accommodation and meals for paying guests together with visiting family and friends.
The home was large and so required full time attention and care. I worked to a daily routine around the family’s needs and the guest bookings.
I ensured the kitchen was clean and well stocked at all times and prepared light meals for the principals as required.
Guests breakfasts and an optional five course evening meal was part of my duties which I prepared and served to a high standard of flavours and presentation – I can refer you to TripAdvisor and Sawday's reviews to substantiate this.
Servicing of the principal’s living quarters was done daily with regular laundering and ironing (using a LauraStar Steam generator)of bed linen and deep clean of bathrooms as required.
Guests rooms were serviced on request and when vacated. This was done quickly and efficiently depending on the timing of next bookings and the rooms were maintained between bookings to be ready at short notice.
At the times when the principals were absent pet care was required for their elderly small dog with regular medication and ensuring that she ate well and often to maintain a good body weight.
Common areas were kept clean, vacuumed and dusted and silverware kept clean and polished.
The wine cellar stock level maintained and temperature checked. Regular scheduled cleaning of cupboards, refrigerators and stoves.
Stock maintenance of cleaning products, laundry products and plant food together with coffee and tea products, filters and UV units for the tea and coffee machines.
Chandeliers and candelabras were cleaned and checked for light bulb functionality.
The laundry was a constant area of focus with towels and pillow cases washed and ironed in house. Sheets and duvet covers were sent out in the main but at times of pressure of vacation periods laundering of these reverted to in house.
Window cleaning was done as required and 2nd monthly – downstairs windows only and cleaning of Velux windows on the upper level.
Garages, cellars and gymnasium were kept clean and tidy.
The outdoor areas were extensive and required daily cleaning of table surfaces and checking of chairs, throw rugs and cushion cleanliness.
Watering and care of potted plants both indoor and exterior was also part of my work day in the summer months.
my personal living quarters were kept clean and tidy. My personal presentation is neat and we maintain a polite and helpful demeanor with guests and the principals.
I ran errands and bought maintenance items as required. Any breakages or losses were recorded and reported to the principals.
