Ola. We moved to Portugal 3 weeks ago. We are in Porto for six months, and undecided as to whether or not we will remain here or move to Lisbon.

Asher is 10.5 years old. Very conversational, social, articulate, and well-spoken. He is a single-child who has been homeschooled most of his life, and therefore does not have that many opportunities to socialize and interact with other children. He was diagnosed as being on the higher-functioning-end of the Autism Spectrum in 2019. He has very mild, barely noticeable behaviors (hand spasms, misses some social cues) associated with children on the autism spectrum. He does talk to himself, but I believe this may just be due to him being a single child, and lack of social interaction largely due to the pandemic - we are for the most part isolated from the world during what is known as a very critical developmental stage.

He is a very bright, well-behaved, well-mannered, and self-sufficient child. Aside from occasionally allowing video games and electronics to pull his focus away from his studies and schoolwork, you will not have many disciplinary issues with Asher.

Aside from providing a mommy-break, a sitter would provide a different world-perspective for Asher, someone else for Asher to exchange ideas and interact with, and a tutor would provide someone else for Asher to learn from and with, especially in Math.
