We are a joyful family of four: Sofia (2,5 years old), Matteo (4,5), dad Alfonso and mum Stephanie. Plus a new au pair whom we look forward to welcome in our home soon! We love nature, making jokes and laughing, being active (but also relax!), traveling and spending quality time all together.
We live in Beersel, a small town near Brussels in Belgium. We have a big stand-alone house, next to beautiful forest and natural landscapes. We have a big garden (where some dinosaurs are living as well according to Matteo :D) and even a swimming pool built during Summer 2022! The house is situated in a calm neighbourhood, but at the same time is not far from the city of Brussels. There are buses, trains and trams to easily head into town. At home we have bicycles which the au pair can use to move around. There are hiking and cycling routes in the area.
Being at the heart of Europe, from Brussels you can easily visit many other countries. Cities like Paris, Amsterdam or London for example are just one train ride away.
Matteo and Sofia are starting a new school in September 2022, bilingual French-English. We try to get up with enough time in the mornings so they can calmly wake up, eat breakfast and get ready for school. Matteo is a dreamy boy full of imagination, sportive, sometimes a bit wild but of an emotionally sensitive nature. He goes to djembe and hockey classes. Sofia is a sweet girl who loves cuddles, she is self-confident, knows too well what she wants and imitates many things from her big brother. She will also be starting extra-scolar activities this year. They both have a good sense of humor and play more and more together now that Sofia is no longer a baby.
Dad Alfonso travels a lot to Africa, UK and other regions, so Mum Stephanie will need help from the au pair as she starts a new sustainability job. Alfonso is Spanish and speaks in Spanish to the children; he likes rugby and reading. Stephanie is Belgian and speaks in Dutch with Sofia and Matteo; she likes yoga and vegetable gardening. Alfonso and Stephanie also speak French and English. So the au pair can choose which of the four languages she wishes to learn and practice and home.
Our educational style is rather conservative (we find it important to educate children with discipline, respect and of course a lot of love) while being very open minded (Alfonso and Stephanie have lived in many different countries so we love learning about other cultures).
Our big house has 5 bedrooms, so the au pair will have a lot of privacy with her own bedroom and shower room. As sports are important for us (including on rainy days) we have a running treadmill.

Hello! We are looking for a caring, respectful and attentive person to help us educate our children while living a fun and insightful au pair experience in a different country. We appreciate an organized person, punctual and ideally having experience taking care of young children who are 2-5 years old.

During the week, Matteo and Sofia go to school from 8h45 until 15h15, on Wednesdays school already finishes at 11h45. The au pair will help with driving the kids to/from school, and caring for them before/after school when mum and dad are working. Tasks include preparing breakfast and lunch or dinner for the children, brushing their teeth, help them dress on their clothes, help them tidy up their toys and bedroom, and play fun and learning games together. Exceptionnally we might ask for caring during a weekend day if the au pair is available. Extra hours will be paid on top of the monthly pocket money. Every week, we make up the planning for the week so the hours are very clear for the au pair and it suits her planning. Ocasionnally if work meetings are changed, we might ask for some flexibility.

Matteo and Sofia eat dinner around 18h, they take a bath around 19h and by 20h we are reading bedtime stories before going to sleep. We then prepare the clothes and schoolbags for the day after so the next mornings' rituals can go smoothly.

Except for keeping her own room and bathroom clean, no house cleaning tasks will ever be asked (we have a cleaning lady who comes twice a week). Everybody contributes to normal cohabitation tasks, like setting the table all together (we like to teach the children to help as well as from small age), fill in and empty the dishwasher, cleaning kitchen gear after cooking, etc.
