Dear Host Family,
I am Dorothy, a sweet 25 years old girl from Philippines. I was born and raised in the Bicol Region, but I have been living for almost 4 years in Antipolo City, nearby the capital city, Manila. Living here has taught me how to cook and take care of a household.
We are big family of 11, Mom and Dad, I have 8 siblings, 3 brothers and 5 sister. I am living now with one of my brother and we are both working. My other siblings has their own family, two were working outside the country and two of my sibling are still studying. Our bonding is usually videocall with our parents during weekend since we are far away from each other.
My desire to be your family's Aupair originates from the perfect opportunity for both of us to learn new languages, traditions and how to interact with a new culture.
Currently, I work in a fine dining Filipino restaurant as a cashier and station head waitress, where for more than 3 years, I supervise a team of waiter and waitress. That allows me to gather skills in conflict management leadership and mentorship, all important traits to have while taking care of children.
Moreover, thanks to my pretty calligraphy, I also write messages on cakes sold in our restaurant. Working in the hospitality industry instruct me to be more patient, improve communication skills and connect with our guest, providing them the best experience, which I can apply as an Aupair.
A typical day in my life consists in working 8 hours per day. My job makes me happy, fulfilled, especially when I get commended by the guest.
Regarding my hobbies, I love volleyball and badminton and board games, such as chess, number and word scrabble. I am artsy, I enjoy painting and playing some ukelele, just dont expect a full concert since I am still beginning but I'd be happy to play a bit for you. I enjoy being around with nature, loves cycling and sometimes go out of town for hiking adventures with my friends. I am pet friendly and I have two dogs; Chichi and her puppy, Max.
People would describe me as a calm and caring person that can be also extrovert at times. I'm creative and I enjoy drawing and playing ukulele. My previous job allowed me to develop further my communication, leadership and organization skills, how to handle conflicts in a proper way and to always remain patient even in stressful moments. I'm a very dedicated and committed person who will always chase my own goals and dreams.
My experience with children comes from my two lovely and energetic niece and nephew, Stephanie and Ezekiel. Back in my hometown, I have taught them to ride their small bike, helped with their homework assignments but also entertaining them, we had a lot of fun playing hide and seek.
I honestly love children and enjoy spending time with them. I feel prepared and well aware for the fact that being like a big sister for your children comes along with responsibilities and that it will not always just play and fun. My calm and patience personally helps me to master most difficult situations like when the kids are tired. Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person. I do respect that house is your house and that I have to follow your house rules.
