Introduction
I'm a 30 yo woman living in Fairfax County, looking for a memorable experience as your nanny/au pair/family assistant! I am an independent and intuitive person and enjoy living an active life. I am reliable and thrive in a work environment where my employer and I agree in advance on my responsibilities and I am given the trust and space to complete them efficiently and effectively.
My career path has been a bit unconventional - following 4 years of nannying from 2012 to 2016 (more details below), I completed my undergraduate studies in 2018 and have since spent the past 5 years working for start-ups in enterprise software sales. I've continued to work with kids in a volunteering capacity via the Girls on the Run program, which uses a fun, research-based curriculum that creatively integrates running and other exercises to inspire every girl to reach her limitless potential. This commitment is an hour and a half twice weekly, working with an amazing group of girls ages 9-13. This has provided an opportunity for safe and thoughtful mentorship, which I believe is important in any adult child relationship.
I have many years of babysitting (infant, ages 2-14) and nannying experience and am compatible with children of many ages. From 2012-2015, I lived in New York City and worked as a nanny. In 2012/2013 I nannied for a family with a 2 year old boy with a developmental delay. The experience was overall pleasant, but because I do not have specialized education in working with children with special needs, the family and I decided to part ways. I next worked for a family with a 2 year old developmentally-delayed boy and an 11 month old. My role was primarily to take the 2 year to appointments and activities around the city, as well as caring for the 11 month old in the home. Most recently (also my longest position) I worked for an international family living in Brooklyn, NY with an 8 year old girl, a 10 year old girl and a 13 year old boy. I had a wonderful, mutually-respectful and caring experience with this family and adore the children. My formal role in their family was to manage the children's activities (including driving them and their friends around the city), assist with homework, take care of the family dog (I loved this!), and generally fill in the gaps and lend an extra set of hands in a very busy and fun family! For both Summer(s) 2015-2016 I stayed with the family at their summer home, living-in and performing childcare, light housekeeping, and other tasks consistent with a personal assistant role. It always felt fun and natural, and I learned an incredible amount about what it takes to run a family. They are great people and I enjoyed working for them. Previous to that experience, in Summer 2013 I worked as a Summer Camp Counselor at Chelsea Piers.
The reason I am looking to return to nannying is primarily that I miss spending my days with children! I feel that I am able to learn from them, nurture them, and protect them while working to be a positive role model and a fun, thoughtful caregiver.
While living in NYC, I also became certified as a yoga instructor, including training on yoga for children. I maintain a fit and active life, and focus on eating a healthy diet (no animal products) and promoting physical activity and engagement. Other hobbies include reading, travel, tennis, and baking. My education background is a Bachelors Degree in Natural Sciences: Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Pittsburgh.
As previously stated, I am also available for hire as a Personal Assistant. I am intuitive of needs, patient, efficient, and loyal.
I am available for hire immediately! I am flexible with my availability, from early mornings to late evenings, and am happy to work out a mutually beneficial schedule. I try to be efficient in my responses, and I look forward to speaking with you further!
*I have taken CPR and First Aid training through the American Red Cross. All vaccinations are up-to-date, including COVID-19 and flu vaccinations.*
