We found our first au pair on Greataupair.com last year and she was a PERFECT match. I found all of the information you provided on how to check references and conduct interviews to be enormously helpful. I also discovered that your system of having each au pair write a "Dear Family" letter really made it quite simple to find the kind of person I was looking for.
(By the way, I have friends who have gone through agencies and not had nearly as good a result as we had on your site. I think it's an advantage NOT to have candidates pre-screened. Personally screening from the start I think is one of the things that helped us to find such a great au pair.)
