Family's Introduction to Au Pair

Hello :)

We are looking for a mothers helper (as i work from home) Nanny / Housekeeper to start as soon as Sept. 1, 2012 or as close to that as possible. So please if you are not eligible to work in Canada now do not apply.

Your day begins at 7:45 and ends at 5:45. Getting the children ready and to school on time will be our greatest challenge of the day.

Once the children are in school you are required to keep the house. Laundry, vacuuming, filling the dish's, organizing, organizing and more organizing. Until it is time to pick up the girls again. This part of the day is still not totally clear as it will be all new come this Sept. However I do know you will be required to drive and pick up at at least one school.

Once home the kids usually have a healthy snack and then do homework. You need to help with homework as all but Lane have learning issues. Jack goes to a school for children with Learning challenges so reading aloud is required. Taya has not yet mastered reading as her learning challenges are more sever so we are working on reading starting with letter recognition and beginner books. Taya's also has an ipad that we will include in her learning. Lane has no issues with reading however has a problem s finishing anything she starts. So this years goal is to keep her reading one book till it is complete. After reading each have piano practice ( about 10 minutes) . After that you are free to play with the children, walk , hot tub, games, crafts what ever.

It is very rare that I ask for any meal prep. however I am always grateful for the help if you like cooking. Involving the kids is also very welcome.

I am sure you have many more questions , I look forward to speaking in person.

Peace,

Nancy

Job Description

We are looking for a mothers helper (as I work from home) Nanny / Housekeeper to start as soon as Aug. 31, 2012 or as close to that as possible. So please if you are not eligible to work in Canada please do not apply.

I have 4 children - Jack is our oldest , and a wonderfully boy who has just turned 13 - he is all boy but still amazingly great with his baby sister. Then we have 10 year old Taya. Taya is funny and very easy to love, a sweet little soul. Then we have Lane she is 9 years old - Lane is our Drama queen and a non-spot talker:) She loves and needs much love. Last but not lease is our Baby girl Dani. Dani is 6, but she is a special angle sent from heaven - she is the size of a 3 year old and is more like a 6 month old. She holds her sippy cup but she must be feed. She cannot sit up on her own yet, but is really working hard on it. She is our forever baby . Dani is a wonderful little angle that will steal your heart as soon as you slow down enough to see her and not just her challenges. Dani is our everyday miracle and very easy to love.

The day begins by helping me get the kids get dressed, fed, lunch's made, hair and teeth brushed and them ready for school. Jack walks himself to the bus however Lane and Taya need to be taken to school. As will Dani come Sept. this year. 4 kids 3 school so needless to say I will require you to help with transporting the girls while I transport Dani or visa versa. Getting them dress and ready for school is the busiest part of the day. Once at school, you have a quite house for a few hours to deal with the many domestic chores created by a family of six. If you love doing laundry this is the job for you :) During this time free from all children, you are required to do housework like vacuuming, cleaning, laundry, tidying , organizing , organizingd organizing. Some times light meal prep. but generally this is not required.

The girls need to get pick up a the end of their school day. They will be starting a new school this year and they are not bused so we need to do the drop off and pick up every day. This pick up time will be shared between myself and you, so all will depend on schedules. I work from home but if I am out at meetings then the you will do the pick ups. Dani too will need to be picked up, but between the two of us we will find a way to make this all work. This coming Sept. will be all new so at the moment this is the best I can tell you about schedules. Thank goodness Jack can take a bus to and from school.

We would like our au pair to play with all the children, and it is very important that you play with our Dani when time allows. Helping her use her hands playing paddy cake, reading to her - she love to turn the pages. Dani loves water - splashing in the hot tub, she loves swings and being outside. All the kids needs to be exposed to as many learning opportunities as possible, as learning through experience is the best way for them to learn. Dani and Taya need to learning through music and experience. All Three girls love to be sung to. All the kids (less Dani) are big talkers but all love to be talked to and with. Dani is a forever baby and loves without end. All she needs is to be loved back.

The kids will all look to the nanny for play time but they all know that they have to put away their coats, boots, back packs first and then bring up their books and lunch kits for review. It is this part of the daily ritual. One I am sure we will have to strongly reenforce over and over come Sept.. When they are all at home life can get busy again. They first must do their homework. (mostly reading) and they all must spend a few minutes playing piano before they can play, watch TV , etc. After homework is over it is just time to be happy kids. This is a great time for you to be a kid as well. Playing with them is the best way to win there hearts and get them to do the stuff they hate.

If you think you could fit in and be part of this family by filling this important place in our home, then I look forward to hearing from you. I am happy to discuss live in if that works better for you. However I am of a mind that live out would be my preference, as I think we all need time from each other. Evenings and weekend should be your own.

Mary Poppins I hope you are out there - I sure need your help:)

Peace,

Nancy
